Cool photo and look at the cars, in front of Golden State and the used cars next door, several customs and a bonafide hot rod out front, any guess on the year? The business was in Oakland, California. HRP
Right in front of the guy in the white shirt looks to be Jerry Anolik's T-bird, "Moon Rocket". You can see the blower that he had on the Cadillac engine that Jerry got from Ted Leventhal. the windshield frame appears to be a T-bird,
someone is selling that picture on ebay,, says it is an old postcard https://www.ebay.com/itm/313646475572
I was born in Oakland in 1960 a block away from the Hells Angels clubhouse. so glad my parents bought a house in Fremont soon after. Oakland in now the stinky butt crack of the Bay Area.
I have that magazine. I bought it as a kid of 12 years. I always liked that car. During the pandemic I made a model of it.
When I was 15-17 years old, I lived in North Beach, San Francisco. I used to hang around J & G auto body. That was Jerry Anolik, and his partner Gino. Their shop was only a few blocks from Fisherman's Wharf. They had a chopped 50's dodge pickup for a shop truck. It was chopped about 1/4" more on one side. I remember when Jerry and Ted Leventhal traded Cadillac engines. It was also in an article in Car Craft Magazine. FWIW, Jerry created the "Moon rocket" after he was involved in a front and rear collision, before that it was just a nice customized T-bird.. I don't know why they went out of business, but I missed going there when they were gone. There was a very similar T-bird in East Hartford, Connecticut in the early 1960's. It was Oldsmobile powered and owned by "Red" McCormick. It was painted just like Jerry's before Jerry's accident.
You Know when I come upon memories, of places that catered to the auto individualist, it becomes apparent that SoCal was not the sole location to get your ride "socialized to get attention". Then it hits me we was all livin' it up in Camelot
