  1. Well I learned something as well as I looked into why we call them Marrettes and its because the first pressure type wire connectors were invented in Canada by a guy named Marr who named his company Marrette so that was what everyone used.

  2. I spelled it wrong on the first google search. Came up with a Spanish word for hammer

The wagon top was used for many early sedan roof fillers . My Buddy’s 32 uses the very same insert .

  5. I’ve seen more of those roofs for roof fills than on the wagon. I guess this was the first time to see where they came from

Smudge pots used in the orange groves in SoCal used smudge oil back in the day. 1 step ahead of tar so to speak. The morning after a night of heavy smudging left a dark dirty haze over the entire valley. Lately the avocado groves are using pyramid shaped heaters fueled with propane. Not many growers are heating groves anymore.

Yep, growing up in the 50's and 60's, they used them in Phx. whenever there was road construction.
Still have one under my work shelf. Pretty cool to see them on the truck.

My last aunt passed away about a year ago, and I came into a big boxful of pictures and documents, my gramps and grams' birth and death certificates, and theirs and my three great uncles' WWII ration booklets, with a lot of the coupons still in there. All the uncles were wounded, and I have those records as well- of course, none of them ever talked about their involvement in the war, pretty common with all the WWII vets I have known
