i had my interior re-done a few months ago, white tuck and roll. this weekend i had someone sit in my car with a pen in their back pocket. i now have black marks on my white seats. i tried hairspray and it helped but i still have ink on my seats. what else can i use? how can i get rid of it? any tips?
This may sound crazy, but I remember when I was in grade school ink from the pens could be cleaned with milk. That was a long time ago and the ink can certainly be different today. Still, it might be worth a try? Dom
White Wizard. Found it at a Home Improvement Show. It took out coffee and blood from my white interior.
In the old days we used to use enamel reducer or better yet, wax/grease remover (not as "hot) to clean the really bad vinyl interiors of cars we were selling. Worked on those old cars but, dont rub too hard, & then let everything dry completely. Might be risky on a really nice interior, but could work on a spot with a Q-tip.
I have used baby wipes with baby oil on them...ever since we started having kids I have been using baby wipes to clean everything...whitewalls, interiors, etc...the damn things dont rip and you can push them into hard to reach crevices...I buy them at costco...even use them in my screenprinting shop
Whatever you decide to try, test it on an out of sight section first. It would really **** to have all the bits that you clean change colour after a week.
Mr Clean makes a little sponge that takes ink off of wallpaper without a trace. I haven't used them on an interior, but it may be worth a shot. You can get them at the grocery store. Doc.
and get rid of your friend who didn't check his back pockets before he got in. That's almost second nature to any guy who knows anything about cars, don't know how many times I've started to get in and felt a wrench or screwdriver in my back pocket.
Nail polish remover... will remove the ink 100%. I had a pen in my work shirt pocket and it went through the washer and dryer. I was commissioned to clean the blue tinted drum. I used "acetone" nail polish remover. The drum looks PERFECT!
im goin with him...super clean is the best there is for any spot, grease, road grime, blood in carpet, the **** works on all
I agree with Doc. When my daughter was reall little she marked on a leather ottoman with a ball point pen. I tried everything under the sink. As a last ditch effort, because I thought it wouldn't work, I tried the Mr. Clean magic eraser. Inow keep plenty of them in the house. It is amazing. Good Luck!
After you have tried all the suggestions above, and are ready to plant a boot in your friends posterior, get some Mar-Hyde or SEM vinyl color and cover it up. I doubt you'll get it cleaned off completely.
