Used 3/4 inch see foam. Now the door won't close because it's up against the seat. I like the look thou. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Great lookin car and I do like the style of the door panel, not sure what see foam is, maybe a thinner foam and less dense foam?
Damn autocorrect. 3/4 inch Sew foam. It's pretty thick stuff. Thanks Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
You may have to take the door panel off and remove the staples down the side of the door where the latch is located,,trim the foam and reattach everything. You may also just need to loosen up the latch some to the point where the door will close and compact the foam,,in a few weeks put the latch in the correct position and it possibly will work without taking the panel apart. Yeah it's puffy. Got looking at it and the caravan seat has a round stock frame at the bottom that's a bit wide. Just a small mod to the seat will fix it. I'm not real tall so the seat is a bit forward than most people have them. Keep ya posted Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Oh and I trimmed the foam around the back as much as I could. I'm a ameture at this so learning as I go Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
For a amateur it look like you did a great job. Really a nice looking car, I would love to see some more pics. Andy
The headliner will have red pleats insert. The floor will or is rubber mat. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Damn fine job for your first attempt; small pleats are labor-intensive! Bitchin little coupe - w/ rumble seat?
My wife and I have done some interior work and I like seeing someone else taking on a job like yours. I am planning on putting a full interior and top on my '29 special coupe when I get to that point. Looks great and I am looking forward to seeing the headliner go into it. Have you done the seats yet? I love the silver piping on the door panels.
Didn't read all the posts before I asked what was the color.. Got a little to excited. But I found the chip on the net. Chip looks darker though. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
The chip does look a bit darker. Haven't done the seats yet. And the piping is plastic covered Mylar type stuff. Thanks here is another pic of the car. Waiting on my Almquist carb adapter yet Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
man thats a lot of red. beautiful work, just think a tan and a slightly off white would accent that sea mist nicely.... love the car.
WOW! This is my kind of car for sure! Lovin the door pleats. Ya can't go wrong with the ol' tuck 'n roll! My door upholstery touches the seat too - just slam the doors....er slightly.....
