Ive got a weird one, an 1971 International MOTORHOME. It is a "UTE LINER". its 30 foot, self contained motorhome with generator. 2 roof air conditioners. A 345 or 392 under hood. This is BIG and ugly. Im sure a bynder freeaak wants this to tow their tractor or scout collectable behind... But; WHOO do I track-down??? Where do I find the one fellow looking for this???? I dont know where to start. I hate to spend a bunch of cash getting it running, its sat for 15 years or so inside my fathers machine shed. I dont want to 'give' it away, I know its rare, I know its valueable, I think.... Someone that goes to all the International Harvester Shows would have the ultimate bragging rights pulling their scout, or super "C" , or whatever in to the show-grounds with this. I am looking for any advice on where to go on the web for info. Who to get a hold of to help get it running, and or sell it. Or, maybe its so rare I dont want to sell it. Does anyone know what this is worth?
try http://www.binderbulletin.org I'm pulling that URL from memory so don't shoot me if I'm wrong. Good luck
i have a 75 ih 4x4 pickup, gots a 392,isky cam, headers, and hellava lot a torque. tryin to sell it for $1K. if nobody buys it i may pull the motor and put it in a little hot rod! id get alotta looks when i pull up to a show with that bitch!! anyways, you could ask at pirate4x4.com, the have an all IH forum, and some hardcore binder boys.
"Rare & valuable" can be two different things in the IH world...Scout IIs will always command more money (in equal shape) than a pickup, Metro, etc., even though Scouts were produced in greater numbers in the '70s & much of the '60s. The bare motorhome chassis are (sort of) more common...an actual IH motorhome is rarer. Desire factor is going to be to IH junkies. You've gotten some good links. One more for you, located in Iowa: http://www.scoutconnection.com/ They may be able to point you towards an interested collector...they also sell on consignment, maybe another option for you. I would caution you, though, unless it's pristine, the selling value probably won't be real high, whereever you choose to sell it. Good luck...
