I found this interesting reading...maybe some of you will too. "This is January 25, 1985 , and this is the second interview with Mr. L. David Ash, long-time Ford designer": http://www.autolife.umd.umich.edu/Design/Ash_interview.htm "This is Dave Crippen of the Edsel Ford Design History Center of the Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village , and it's August 2, 1985 . We are talking today to Mr. Robert F. Andrews who lives in Royal Oak [ Michigan ] and has had a long and interesting career as a designer, mainly with the automobile industry at Hudson and at Studebaker and beyond.": http://www.autolife.umd.umich.edu/Design/Andrews_interview.htm The full website: http://www.autolife.umd.umich.edu/Oral_histories.htm -
Wow, I thought for sure there would be more folks out there that enjoyed this "behind-the-scenes" type of stuff...where our cars came from, the thinking and politics from back then, etc...
Hey, I wanna thank you for posting this..... I'm a very slow & stupid reader, and I've enjoyed the hell out of it! I've been a fan of the histories of these guys for years, and have read what others have had to say about their work, but not often in their own words. Swankey Devils C.C. "Meanwhile, back aboard The Tainted Pork"
Thanks... I'm really into the how and why of things, so I thought this was a really good resource...I was surprised that more folks on the HAMB didn't get into it. BTTT for those that missed it...
Very cool. Being an industrial designer, I love reading about this stuff. I always wonder about what was going on behind the scenes in each case...that ended up making some of the sexiest shapes in some instances ('63-'67 vette)-- and some of the weirdest and wackiest ('58 Lincoln).
