Since I’ve been outed as a lonnnnnnnnng timelurker in another post I guess it is time I, as some vulgarian put it, “ pull my balls out of my cunt and step up.”
Blame my being here on BARNETT.
It was at least three years ago now, but every time I would see Dan he would be going on about “HAM this” and “HAM that” and I’m off to meet up with some fellow HAMSTERS.
Naturally my curiosity was peaked----who is this secret society and what is their preoccupation with pork product and little furry creatures?
I was relieved to find that meat really had nothing to do with it and with the exception of Monkey, strange animal acts were not the priority.
It wasn’t the friendliest time for newbies and I was a bit intimidated----Germ and Mudd were crucifying everyone, so I continued to lurk.
I watched the LORDZ of SPAMZ come and go (but I do like their cars!) and slowly started tuning in more and more---I loved the tech and info but hated the DRAMA!.
These days things seem to have found their groove. I LOVE tech week and am content to sit back and learn and not throw my opinions where there are plenty already.
    So about me.....
My tomboy tendencies can be blamed on having two older brothers and a gear head brother-in-law. My brothers got me into model building at a young age----all about gassers and funny cars.
We also lived close to the Milwaukee State Fair Park so we would wonder over for all kinds of car related events---car shows, stock car and USAC races, and even thrill shows.
Then along came my future brother-in-law, always picking my sister up in some fast car. I WAS HOOKED!
I would beg for rides which eventually led to begging to go along to drag races at fabulous Great Lakes Dragaway. I saw a lot of great races in my young teenage years. Oddly, this is now considered “Nostalgia Drags” when it is the only drag racing I have ever known.
In my late teens I got completely side tracked into music, namely playing guitar for a slew of famous(infamous) and near famous bands which eventually transplanted me to LA and now to the Austin Texas area.
It was the Southern California Kustom Culture art scene that brought cars back into the focus for me. In the early (pre Juxtapoz magazine)1990’s my company was printing t-shirts for greats like Robert Williams and Todd Schorr and art openings always had lots of great cars parked out front.
I started reading the magazines again and checking out car shows..
Later, doing shirts for McPhail’s Artist at Large motivated me to get back to thinking about cars WAY TOO MUCH! (Thanks Dennis)
If you have been to a car show or tattoo convention in the last few years you have probably met me. I travel pretty much constantly selling my Hi-Octane and Living In Skin clothing lines as well as lots of vintage automotive ephemera.
At just about every car show it seems like HAMB folks are the ones I end up hanging out drinking beer with. Monkey and Reverendz in Oklahoma, Nads and the Orlando Rumblers, the Greazy Hubcaps in Tennessee, Billetproofdude, Deadbeats everywhere and of course homeboys the Kontinentals.
Current ride is the completely stock 1957 International 120 farm pick’m up---my goal this year is to actually take a couple of weekends off to clean up the body and drop the altitude a little. Something like this perhaps...
Now that I am finally part of the small town Texas “good ol’ boy network” other parts and projects keep coming my way.
The 26 Tudor blocking your view of that fine MULLETARO just happened along. Likewise the Z was offered to me at a price too good to pass up with a strong running slightly beefed up engine and shift-kitted trans.
Fear not the small block will look respectable in the T once I swap the Moroso valve covers for some vintage finned ones from my brother-in-law(Christmas present!) and install the Edelbrock X-1 with 6 2’s provided by another good ol’ boy.
Yet another local stopped in to tell me he had some fenders for the T ---he seemed quite shocked when I told him I wouldn’t be running fenders.
    There you have it.
Can I go back to lurking now Dan?

Jason---I haven't forgotton that you called me creepy.[IMG]

  9. Buwahahahahaha! Finally!! [IMG] See, now that didn't hurt a bit, did it?! And...one of the better intros I've seen...I guess that's what happens when people WATCH and PAY ATTENTION to what is said and done BEFORE jumping into something. Neat concept. You've got plenty of time to either get the 26 ready or hop up that 57 for the DRAGS so you can start trash talking! [IMG] Marcy failed to mention that she is also one of the top dogs throwin the LiveFast HotRod Tattoo Convention in Houston, in June. That's gonna be BIG FUN. She really knows how to put on a show. Now I can quit pushing it and let her spam it herself, as it gets closer to the big weekend. Welcome to the HAMB, Marcy. (that's not a very clever screene name, though, is it? [IMG])

I'm sure you meant the Ben Wa kind.

May your time with us be as fun and educational as it is for the rest of us.

I see you're in Austin. It's one of the great cities. But still, for all it has going on, whenever I think of Austin, the first thing I think of is Stevie Ray Vaughn. May his dedication and excellence inspire you as it did me and so many others.

When it's quiet, listen to "Little Wing" again.

    Austin. That's Stevie Ray's town.

Hmmm.....guess I'm not clever but then again.... BARNETT ???
I know....last name instead of first and all capitals makes all the difference.
It's a fine line between clever and stupid.[IMG]

  19. I like to work for a while, then come in for a few minutes and see what all you freaks are up to! I just finished striping a panel. Earlier, I finished the piece for the convention's art show...just haveta round up a scrap flywheel to finish it off, then I'll send you a pic. Also came up with a nifty little sketch of a tiki design to work on tomorrow. See...I'm workin...the HAMB is like the "water cooler break" I would be taking if I had a "real" job. [IMG]

    I don't think I understand that concept.[IMG]
Sounds like your night is going a lot more productive than mine----too much to do before the drive to Viva.

By the way...sent you a sneak peak of the "art" for the show.

    I usually don't do welcomes.
