Never really did a proper intro…so here we go!!!!

My name is Tommy and I’m From Brookfield, CT. I’ve been around cars most of my life (I’m 36 now) and just left a job of working on vintage racecars (road race type) and am now going to be working FIELD SERVICE for a manufacturer of industrial floor cleaning equipment. I can MIG and TIG weld, I LOVE wiring of vehicles, I really enjoy working with metal and building stuff!!!

I’ve never really had a “HOT ROD” of any sorts. The closest thing to a hot rod was a 1937 Olds coupe that I restored. It was an old vintage dirt modified:

I have also had a few muscle cars that I played around with as well.

I’m planning on building a ROADSTER PICK-UP and initially was going to use a fiberglass body to start from….well……….I have now decided to build the same RPU, but all hand built body and chassis!!! I really want this vehicle to become a part of me.

I’m planning to go with the RETRO-ROD (RAT as some of you call it) look, but with a little updating. Steel wheels are a must, but plan on some nice fat ones out back. Rear suspension will be a 4 link w/coil-overs, front will be the standard straight axle. I haven’t decided on an engine yet, but it WILL NOT be a modern day one!!! Thinking about a flat 4, but my heart yells V8!!! We will see (I bet $$ it will be a V8)! I will not accept an auto tranny, it must be a manual one! Interior....whats that???? As long as there are two seats...the interior is done!

I want to build the entire body, bed and frame myself. There is nothing better than seeing the progress of something you created from a flat sheet of steel!!!!

I’m sure this will be a multi-year project, but I’m in no hurry. At least it looks like I found a really cool forum here at H.A.M.B. that can answer every one of my questions! THANKS!
