Hi everone, my name is Jared. I'm 23 yrs. old and have a p***ion for motorsports and wrenching on hot rods. I first got into hot rods when I was about 13; around that time my older brother got a '68 Camaro. I fell in love with that car. I remember cruising around in it and all the fun we had. My first real car was an '88 Mustang GT that I drove through high school. Right before I left for college I sold the Mustang and was lucky enough to buy the Camaro from my brother. The Camaro has sadly spent more time down than running with me being a broke college student, but it will soon hit the streets again. After the Camaro is resurrected I want to build a traditional hot rod and my search continues for a project I can afford. I can see myself dragging something out of a field or someone's backyard and bringing it back to life. I would really like to meet some of you and if anyone in the Houston area would like a second pair of hands, I am eager to help and learn. Wow, I think that's a long enough intro.
Howdy! There are more than a few folks on here from Houston. We have BSed around a bit about a get together, but I don't think anyone has held a meet yet. I've suggested getting a hands on club going but no takers yet. Welcome and keep beating the drum for a houston club...I'm in. LS
Welcome from a G***er Guy living here in Okie land. This is going to be a great site for you...you can ask questions of some of the best mastercraftsmen that ever came out of Old School Hot Rod University. You will find that it really doesn't matter what you are a building...as long as you stay true to the "school". 1Welcome, again, and see ya on the highway.
LS, we should definately get a Houston meet going and I'm IN for a hands on club as well, so thats 2 so far . Somtimes it just takes a couple motivated people to get things started; what side of town are you on? Thanks for the warm welome guys and the HAMB couldn't be any better. Jared
Jared, I'm in-the-loop. Live near Memorial Park and work down town. What about you? Hey, also, just a reminder, the Del Mar swap meet is comming up...I think in early October. I've never been but am fixin' to make it this time around.
Welcome Jared- I currently live inside the loop and work downtown. I just bought a house out in Sugar Land so things are changing. I share a shop with my old man in the West U area. I'm currently putting a new motor and ****** in my '58 Chevy street truck, and collecting parts for a '40 Chevy Rudy style chop top pickup. I always make it to the DelMars both the one at the stadium and the horse track. Also coming up is Rosanky. I've been down for a Houston HAMB'rs get together, but it hasn't happened. The closest was the LiveFast show at by the Astrodome, and I had to work. Wyatt
Thanks for the welcome Wyatt. I live in Meadows Place, a small city right next to Sugar Land, right off of West Airport and 59. If you take that road to 59 be carefull our cops are well known. Jared
