Cool site- Hope I can get some help for my newly aquired flathead addiction. I am restoring a 1948 Hallet hydroplane which set 2 world records in 1950 and 1951. It was the first limited hydro to use fuel injection, ever. I am tearing down a 59AB block for this project and am seeking parts and eventually, much needed advice. The original was a 59AB 264 ci - 4" merc crank, 8BA rods, madis dry sump pump, scintilla vertex magneto with 90 degree angle drive, hilborn fuel injection, 1/8" overbore and ran straight methanol. Unfortunately, I'm missing most of the parts I just listed, except the hilborn unit and engine block. The hydro "Alter Ego" had hilborn unit #100(the first), and I bought #114 for this project- I still need a pump and hilborn crank pulley. Hope I can find some of these parts. I'll list my needs in the classifieds. Geoff
Welcome Geoff.........sounds like a neat project restoring a vintage hydroplane. Hopefully in the future you'll throw some pic's up of its progress!! Good luck with the build and finding those parts.
