I guess it's time for a long time lurker to introduce himself. My name is Neil. I'm 46, married with two kids. I currently have two projects, a 68 cuda fastback 383 and a 63 dodge wagon. The 68 is about 2/3 complete and I'm doing a ground up resto on it. I've had it since 1995 and bought it as a complete basket case (bare shell w/some parts). Although it's basically stock, I installed super stock springs to give it a 60's SS look. Hopefully some ET classic V's will be in it's future! I realize the cuda is in the musclecar vein so I won't dwell on it 'round these parts. I picked up the 63 a couple years ago where it came from the home of an old woman that had died 14 years earlier. The pic is from last summer and now it's in prime and rests on 15 x 7's in the rear and 14's in front to give it a nice rake. I'd like to add a ramcharger scoop, some paint and do some engine work. It currently has a 318 poly which is actually a pretty good motor. I snagged a 3 x 2 intake for it so maybe I'll use it. I do just about all the work myself, but not all. Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself so I can comment or post once in a while. I've learned a ton since I found the HAMB and I'm starting to think about my next project, either a 30's bodied rod (stock car/60's modified?style)or an early 60's Valiant gasser style. Not sure yet. Maybe something else totally. Well thanks, gotta go to work now - Later, Neil
The 63 Dodge is my favorite early 60s Mopar by a long shot...looks cool as a wagon, too! (I also think that the 67-69 Cudas are the meanest looking drag cars of the 60s, too!) Deffinately drop that tripple carb intake on the 318 Poly in the wagon...add some lake pipes and skinny whites and it'll be a sweet little cruiser!
jab a max wedge in it. I have some freinds that race the '60s Mopar long roofs, check out their site: http://www.wagonsofsteel.com/ welcome, now get yourself a traditional hotrod. Paul
Instead of the scoop how about cold air intake in one pair of the headlights? I vote for cold air in the outboard pair and keep the inboard for lights... And Welcome to the HAMB!
"SHIT...," Snipes exsist???? And here I thought I was "Hunting" a ficticious mythical character! Hey I'm sorry for sending all those young "Campers" with nets after you and your family...! Welcome Mark
Thanks guys for the warm welcome! Hey, we love the Batboy here in Dutchess county... As for the wagon, I do have a Max Wedge intake, but would still need the heads and a bunch of other stuff to clone a Maxi. Maybe someday. Paul, I would kill for a coupe like yours! It's probably my favorite HAMB rod, I like the Lukester and Butt Reynolds truck also, a LOT. Funds prevent me at this time, but my next project will be in the "traditional" way. I think. Old tin is real hard to find around here. I almost shit when I saw that post on the N. Carolina junkyard closing down. I didn't think places like that existed anymore. ohhh, fyi, a Snipe is someone who works in a boiler room on a ship...my father's nickname is Snipe, as that was his position on a destroyer in the Korean war. Hey, what the hell... gotta get to sleep, later -Neil
