Hello all, new 'stranger' here. My name is Mark and I've lurked on the board for a little while so I decided to stop snoopin' and INTRODUCE.

My current toy/project is a newly aquired '66 Galaxie 2Dr Hardtop. I'm mostly a Bike guy with my '74 Norton Commando 850 Cafe'Rat(torn down). I've also got a '76 CB500 (taking up space) and an XR400 with street wheels/tires to run around town and scare/irritate the neighbors.

The HAMB's got some good info, and it sounds like there's mostly good guys here.
I'm sure to have some questions that the SEARCH button can't answer,so 'thanks' in advance.

Welcome Mark. That side shot of your ride reminds me of a black on black Fairlane that I used to have. I hadn't thought about that car in forever. 289? Or have you swapped motors?

And another Brit bike rider too? There are plenty of us here. '66 BSA myself and mine SHOULD be torn down it's so feckin' ugly right now. But a little fresh chrome will cure that. LOL Whatcha doin' to your Norton?

Yeah, it's got a 351w in it now..the previous owner did the switch.
Houston's got tons o' Britbike guys...you ever see that big 'ol guy Les Means..he rides a Rat-ass Bonnie around pretty hard. Seen him make the youngsters on their spotbikes look silly.
Anyway, the norton's gettin the full cafe treatment...clipons, rearsets, TT exhaust and goin to a sinle carb setup. looking around for a used/cheap aluminum tank, but that's on the BIG wish list. Just cleanin' it up amd makin' it run right(as righ as britbikes do) Takin more time/effort that I planned, but don't they all.

Oh yeah, 351w is a great engine for that car. Even with just a warm 351w and a four barrel that car should get out of its own way pretty well.

It does take some effort to wring the quality out of a brit machine but its in there somewhere. Mine is just getting some dependability upgrades as I go along (new harness, stainless wire wheels, Boyer, freer air cleaners, etc.) and hopefully looking better too. It sounds like your's is gonna be quite a bike to be reckoned with when it's done. That aluminum tank would look great. I haven't seen one in ages though. But rummage in the back of Cliff's shop for a while and your bound to come up with one. And yeah, I know Les. He still hasn't sold me a Boyer but it's only because I can't afford it yet. And I need that new wiring harness first. LOL

Hey I just thought to ask, is this Mark from the Ton Up's?

Yeah, Tim and Roger moved to SoCal. Why I'll never know. I guess they couldn't find enough old, leathery bleached blonde women around here. LOL Mark may have gone too, since you're not him. LOL

Les is still around and kinda splits time between here and the west coast if I'm not mistaken.

But Ton Up is still a going concern and is now headed up by a guy I don't know but remember seeing around at various bike things like the little show and swap meet they have at Hickory Hollow in the Heights.

There are also some Ton Up bros in Vancouver, Canada. One guy that is deep into Nortons. And BMWs for some odd reason.

I'll keep my eye out for that aluminum tank for ya. I know a guy that used to play with Norton's a lot and he may know something. I'll PM ya if I hear anything.

I was helpin Foiled Again with his Y3K Galaxie project and remarked that I would dig havin a 65 or 66 Ford 2dr post.
Also have a CB500 and a couple or three Brits.
Your part of Texas is technically "back east" but I guess it's OK. I've met some people who have been there and they say it's OK, anyway.
