Hi. I'm Hal, a soon to be retired (I hope) millwright from NW Washington. You could say I'm kind of an old guy since I've been messing around with cars since the mid-60's. Have owned things like a '35 Chev, Dodge powered '40 Ford coupe, a '50 Ford panel with 394 Olds and early hydro, several Y-block & FE powered shoebox Fords, and a few muscle cars and 4-wheelers over the years. Wasted lots of time and money on all this stuff and still haven't learned not to! Present hot rod is a Cad powered '31 'A' roadster built in the late 50's and updated a little over the years. Also have a '40 Fordor I've owned since '69. Building a Flathead for it, but have been sorely tempted to stuff something else in there. warbird
"Velcommen" Warbird Would love to see pictures of your Roadster. Buildin a 31 Roadster as well...! Sold the Birds but still tinker on them! Mark
Got pictures! Just haven't figured out how to post 'em yet! I'm here because of the wealth of information concerning the type of stuff I'm interested in; alternatives to the SBC and the way things used to be done. warbird
Welcome Warbird, Sounds like you can lend a hint or two about machine work.... Good technical advise is always appreciated on here. JT.
We'll try it this way! I'll be d*mned, it actually worked. My apologies for the wheels and tires. warbird
Warbird, from a newbie to a stranger, good to see ya, sounds like you have been around hot rods for a while.I think you will enjoy the company here.Lots of good people and info.So sit back and enjoy and jump in if the feeling is right.
warbird Great pics of the Roadster! Does your name imply anything to do with "War Birds"? I used to own a 1944 Piper L-4 and helped on the restoration of many others! They seem to go together with Hot rod roadsters!! Mark
wingnutz, You got me! Yeah, if I were filthy rich I'd be playing with Warbirds in addition to the cars, but I ain't, so I don't. The only thing prettier than a full dress Flathead is a polished Merlin. Did spend some time working on an FG1-D years ago; and have some T6 and Mustang stuff up in the rafters for someday. In the process found out that the oil drain door from a Mustang belly cowling makes a dandy master cylinder access door for the roadster. Polished aluminum, Dzus fasteners and all. warbird
Welcome from another old guy from Wa. Dad had a 46 Stennsen(sp?) when I was a kid, and a Piper Tri-Pacer later. I've been workin on RR ave in B'ham lately, sure I'll see ya around, nice "A".........OLDBEET
apology accepted for the rims and tires lol nice car, youll fit in here just fine...............Briggs
Next I'll be seeing B17 seats, altimeter, and a gunsight on the old roadster!!! "Hey..., at least it's traditional"!! WA has tons of cool airplane stuff and great hot rod people to use it! Check out http://www.p51.mustangsmustangs.com/p51.shtml There's a couple that I worked on in there! (flying kind) Mark
Welcome WarBird. nice pic's im into ww11 bombers, and bomb groups, seen alot in England. AS well as a 51 showbox i also have a 44 dodge and a 43 WLA (harly) Mark.
Thanks for all the welcomes, guys. Wingnutz, yeah I'm a little familiar with MustangsMustangs.com; which 51's did you get to work on? A friend of mine in Cal. has whats left of one of the G models but he's years away from finishing it. And now that you mention it, a '51 rear-view mirror would work pretty good in the roadster...think I've got one around here somewhere... warbird
