I've been just kind of reading post on this board for a month or so. Been into cars most of my life, was mostly muscle cars until a few years ago when I met some guys with mid-five chevies and they asked me to join the club they belonged to. I have a lot to learn about traditional rods. I've enjoyed reading the post, sounds like everyone has a good time. Hope I can fit in. A while back I bought a 56 ford parklane 2 door wagon. This is the car I am currently working on. I also have a 68 GTO that was the first car I actually bought. If I can figure out how to attach pictures I will post them.
GR-RRR , Did your user name come from the old G.T.O. tv ads?If so thats cool.Just thought I might let you know your not the only wagon guy on here.Im, kinda like the old song-you know the one-I was wagons when wagons werent cool! Dont know why,but they always tripped my trigger.Right now I have more junk than any one person should be left alone with. One of them waiting in the wings is a 56 Ford 2 door ranch wagon, pretty sound car out of Oklahoma,I hope to be able to hang on to and get something going on it.Just wanted to say welcome and enjoy the people here.Lots of good people and good info here, and did I mention a ton of fun!
Okay, I added a little info, I'm kinda new at this. Yes the name is from the old GTO adds, it is also the personalized plate on the goat.
That's a cool wagon project you got there...already has an old y-block in it, too! Dig the Goat, too....had a 70 myself! Keep posting pics as that wagon progresses!
Well, if your from Nebraska, you've got to be a "All-Right" guy....I'm originally from Iowa. So what are the plans for the "Long-Roof" ? Details.......... Welcome!
The front of the frame where the suspension mounts is rusting out, will most likely sub it. Would like to lower it, and since it will be driven quite a bit will update the drive train, possibly with newer fuel injected ford v-8 like out of a mustang, crown vic or explorer. Also an Automatic overdrive ******. I know it is not traditional, but hope to spend lots of miles in it and it needs to be practical. The interior will be pretty basic, but comfortable. Haven't decided about any body mods or paint.
