Welcome. Nice to see some people get the hamb. Neat rod btw. Considering chancing "swissmike" to "man*******"? MAIKI
Hi Mike, suddenly realised how nice Old Rusty would look with a bit of detailing. The car looks great, welcome to the hamb. I'm still trying to put the manpantie thing out of my mind. Mart.
Welcome Mike! its about time. That roadster is at least one of the greater inspirational ingredients for my project. You wouldn't know it if were compairing how clean his car is compared to my junk. Tim MBL
Mike or shoould I say Holy Mike (swissmike), welocme to the hamb. It looks like the land of the endless Hot Rod has switched coasts and moved south a little. BMFR, couldn't make out the lettering on the cowl, mus say Swissmike . You're well ahead of many that have been right here buildin' forever. Be interested to captuer your $.02. if it don't make ya dirty it aint yours
DJ: It's the same sound you heared when you rode in the car way back when. Between Rossi, me and my neighbour ((20 year chrysler mechanic who has a 8sec street legal Dodge *******) we were able to figure out the noise. I can't believe I hadn't thought of that earlier: The timing was too much advanced!! What we heared was the piniging from the detonation. I had a hard time locating the noise because I could only hear it under full load and never when the engine was revved with the car standing still. Obviously my neighbor has a better trained ear and can hear that stuff. I had to retard the timing as much as the Mallory distributor allowed. I am now at the end of adjustment, but it seems to be just right. You can't believe the difference in performance! Plus now you can really hear the cam! It's got a mean sound to it. Manifold vacuum dropped from 20" to 15". I still got to change the power valves and jets. Had to order them and I think I can pick'em up tonight.
That's cool Mike. Rossi's really good at getting **** running right. I must admit the noise had me boggled. I bet you're happy you don't have to yank out the ******. I hope you're getting more than 10 mpg out of her now. I understand you're out of town for your batchelor party, we'll just have it without you. We'll put a semi naked cardboard cut out of you in the corner and have it puking in a bucket at the end of the night. Seriously let's have it on the 7th November Ok. Zor, I really wish you were here for it, I miss you my teenage love monkey slave.
[ QUOTE ] Nads, my friend, if you had ever played poker you should know not to give away any secrets. At least not early in the game! What else can I offer the good people of the HAMB in the futere with my car almost done and my next project still a mere electrochemical imbalance in the nether regions of my cranium. You could have at least made another post out of it. Now let me tell you a secret: I have officially gone "bi". My lovely fiancee (who's name is LAUREN, whcih you should know as designated best man) doesn't like it one bit, but the slow and steady decay of the precious original garments from the old world leave me with no other choice: I am now the proud owner of six (6) pairs of boxer briefs! (which btw give me the needed support but at the same time make my crotch sweat) Everybody else I would like to thank for their kind and encouraging words! [/ QUOTE ] Nice car. Boxers rule!
Welcome here, Mike. The roadster is as cool as they get. And the Hexagon is one of my favorite intakes. It's said that this intake has his roots back to 1930's Indy? racers. You should see the matching factory aircleaner. It says Hexagon Tool Comp. Dearborn/Mich. on top of it. The numbers on the generator mount are the Pat. Pend. date 7/25/47. I wished I would have that aircleaner too. Here a few pics of that intake and the ad from early '50s Hotrod mag. Change the powervalves down to 4.5 or even 3.5. and jet down. It really helps. I think Charly Price from vintage speed has 'em. It's not to far from you, Vero Beach,FL. Stay cool, Mike from Germany.
Mike: thanks for the kind words and the cool pics! It is the same exact intake I have. I ordered the 4.5" power valves and 48 and 49 main jets from the local parts store. Should get them today. I bought the intake and carbs from Charlie... and most of my 6 cracked blocks as well. I made the trip more times than I care to remember. I love your website and the cars you guys drive. Viele Gruesse in den kalten Osten...Mike
