Hi, guys... I started in the automotive trade at age 15, (1957) apprentice Ford/Mercury spe******t. Built some hot rods, (flathead powered) then inherited my Mom's '56 Ford Sunliner. 'Y' block was 'warmed over', in 1959 turned low 90s in 14 seconds. Chevy Eater! Bought my first '54 Ford Coupe. (all the 'Y' blocks and F.E.s were a 'bolt-in' proposition, so it got a '56 Merc 'Y' block) Had a few more '54 Fords, all Coupes...they became a 'trademark'...Found #5 in L.A., got a 336" (punched 312), then in Sacramento found #6. ( It got fitted with a 427 Side-Oiler, engine was payment for a truck rebuild. 1970) I'm on the 11th one now, my #1 son bought it for me for Fathers Day, 20 years ago...Finally getting to it. Currently building a 406 with 3-speed toploader with Jeep shift tower, 9" rear, have a '34 Plymouth tube axle for it, unsure if I'll go the axle route...(done it before, it's an option...) Posting pics is still evasive...No rust in my present Coupe, but some bondoed dents. Body is 'sealed' by P.O. with green enamel...(will get stripped and straightened, painted Wimbledon white) I have American Torque Thrusts for it.
Welcome from sunny Florida. My '55 is running 16" American Torque Thrust Wheels. Click on crusin55 and check it out.
Welcome from So Cal. Need pics here too. I'm a little younger than you but if I can figure it out, anyone can. Here's a LINK on how to post pics.
