Hello Everyone, I usually build my cars, but this time I purchased one that doesn't need much. The older I get the more I like the oddball lower production stuff you don't see much of. Here is my 1955 Nash Ambassador Custom Lemans. It is a completely rust-free car that someone took great care of over the years. The Lemans package was the optional dual carb, higher horsepower engine that they used for racing in the Nash Healey the previous year. . Production was around 2500 units, I have not researched how many were 4 doors yet. Also some pictures of a few of the other nice rides at the show. Weather was perfect & this was the first time driving the car so I was glad that it made the 35 mile round trip successfully. Steering box needs rebuilt as it has lots of play & all the shims have already been removed. Low speed steering was interesting, but the car rode like a dream at 55-60 on our country roads! It also needs a fuel pump, water pump as well as a couple of pot metal pieces chromed. The only other plans for it over winter are to detail the engine compartment & the trunk. Kind of nice to have one that I didn't have to do a restoration on! I am also blessed to have a girl (Laura) who loves the cars, cruises, shows. I can see next year she will be driving one of the cars to the cruises & shows (probably the XLR-V with the roof down!) Definitely a cool and different ride. My dad would've dug that, he had a thing for Nash. He was always singing the song, about the little Nash in the rear view mirror....
Always great to see something different and learn a little history at the same time (didn't know about the LeMans). Thanks, Bill!
Not sure if my dad would have dug it but he would have talked for thirty minutes about how the seat laid down to make a bed in it.
Thank you Gentlemen! I definitely don't have to worry about a bunch of them showing up at the same show as I do! While I was thinking about making an offer on this car, there was a 2 door version in black & red that was probably just as nice for sale in Iowa. It was 7 grand more than I paid for this one, but the thing that turned me off about that one was the black & red interior....it was about 50/50 of each color & that was just too much for me. Bill, thought you might enjoy this Nash for sale on Craigslist. But only a single carb from what I can see. https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/cto/d/chino-valley-1956-nash-statesman/7384786394.html 1956 Nash Statesman. Runs as new, beautiful body and paint. New correct interior. Ready to drive and enjoy. Great unique car. A mid century masterpiece. A car that is a big hit at shows. Great highway car. Fire it up and start attending shows and cruises. Six cylinder, three speed with overdrive. No disappointments. Car is currently stored in Arizona can help arrange shipping
Thank you Sir, That one is also really cool & you won't see very many of them around either! I was lucky enough to get a top 6 "Club Choice" award at a car show yesterday with mine! People definitely flock to it, because most have never seen one! God bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/[/QUOTE]
