Guys, quit the bitchin and come out and support this deal. In the fence, out of the fence, big deal it's all only about 20 feet away. There's room for everyone here and plenty of it. Let's all support it and have fun. I'll be there with my Gasser on July 25th.:D Park me in the fence, just outside the fence, who cares. This deal has a lot of potential to be AWESOME if it gets the support it deserves. These guys are working their asses off to make a cool place for all of us to play.

Man you guys have a great event there, I wish some of the tracks here in Michigan would look into doing something like this.

  3. cgaswillys, your gassser and many more like it is just what's needed. More action on track = less bitchin about who's parked where.

I would not worry about the cars being parked 20' closer as much as trying to keep this going, one wrong move with the management and this thing could all be over real quick, we need to suport mel and keep it going, nailhead jack

you can park me and my 35 inside, outside or down the fucking street and around the block and i'd be there. i don't give a shit who sees what i'm building or what i've built. what's the alternative...parking next to a new mustang or corvette at the local burger king with no band, no racing, no beer and no flag girl!! man that scene aint for me. thanks guys for working your asses off to bring us something cool. you can park me and my buddies anywhere, we dont give a shit.

If you gotta argue that you don't fit in... you don't fit in.

This is a cool thing, props to Mel and the crew for what they are doing.

    Q. how many cars are racing? I'd like to see some pic of them, thats why I'm going. I love seeing old shit go way to fast! thanks Jared

  9. Mel and the gang have a good thing going here. We don't have anything around here like this and it would be dumb to bash it clearly because you can't or your friend can't get their car into the main area.

Besides classic cars I am into vintage scooters. Every year one of the clubs I belong to have a rally where only certain scooters are allowed to the rally and its events. No one gets upset they can't go with their bikes that aren't allowed at the rally. They just show up scooter-less and support the rally.

The same should be done for Motor Speedway. Its a unique event and should be supported. And just because you are a 50s icon or you are part of a club that has certain cars allowed into the area or possibly a drag racing god who now drives a 09 Vette, it doesn't give you the right to just go on in or get pissy about not getting in. My father is a Veteran and rides a 2005 Harley RoadKing. He plans to come down with some fellow Vets if they can and support the event. But they don't expect to park their new motorcycles in the main area cause they are Vets. They understand the idea and novelty of the event and will park their bikes away from the main area.

So if you don't have a pre-58 car and you want to go...then go and park outside the main area in the post-58 area. Doesn't mean your car ain't any cooler its just respecting the creators rules for the event.

I have gone to plenty of events that had certain rules to get in. Some I could get my car or scooter into and some I couldn't. Either way i supported a local event. And when it comes down to it, supporting a local event should be first and foremost in our minds.

We'll be running the truck on the 25th...
It's that close, but we'll be still working the bugs out...probably not going to be setting the world on fire, but we want to go down the track, thats what its all about for us.
cgaswillys, are you running the willy's?
    Any other E.C.G. guys running?

Not so sure yet if I'm going to run the Willys on the 1/8 mile, I don't think I'll be able to get any traction. I also have an ECG race on the 1/4 mile on the 26th.

  14. Would be cool to at least try out the 1/8 as a little tune up for Sunday, invite the other gassers coming out for Sunday. More race cars on the track wouldl be great..

That's what I was thinking, too...I doubt we'll get traction, either, we have NO weight over the rear wheels, yet, but its just about fun for me, anyways...I'll give a try, leave easy, and see what happens! I don't think anyone cares if any records get set.
I think these guys would really just like to see as many cars on the track as possible...I've never run on the eight mile track, though, hook is pretty non-existant, huh?
I guess it would kinda suck to hurt it or something before the 26th, though...I can dig it...

The guys that raced the time I went didn't have traction troubles, in fact one guy ran a real low 6 at over well 100MPH. Maybe I'm just jumping the gun with my opinion. My son races his Jr. dragster there and I'm on that starting line all the time. Just doesn't suck my sneakers off like the 1/4 mile track. It is one cool 1/8 mile track though, I like it weather it's being used by hot rods or Jr. Dragsters.

I'm CERTAIN that we'll be a disorganized mess, since
its probably gonna be the first time out w/ an untested vehicle, so I'm actually happy for the eighth! l

I don't know what this thing feels like upstairs at all yet.

  19. Cool back to racing, instead of a bunch of bullshit dragging this thread down!

  20. I know when NHRA is in town they spray the track with their "secret formula." Is there something used to prep the 1/4 that track management could apply to the 1/8 ?

    C'mon, Track bite alone ain't gonna break everyone's cars..."Cars don't break cars...PEOPLE break cars"...
Spray it...just leave the SLICKS at home, for the street cars!
That WILL break stuff...ask me how I know...;)

Just got back from Cali... what an amazing trip! hung out with a bunch of amazing people and saw a lot of amazing stuff... and all i can say is that who everyone who is griping, just take a trip to the left coast and hang out in burbank for a while and try to come back and say that the east coast isnt slacking! hahaha all we need to see is more cars racing and i will be very happy.

If your still unsure of what we are all about come to the Old Time Drags!!

  26. MSNJ and the Old Time Drags makes for a great weekend in NJ.

Hellz yeah...we'll be campin' out in Old Bridge somewhere...I still got my Rain-out ticket from last F.C.R....
    :D
Maybe, if we have time and $$$ still, we'll run on Sunday, too...
    Truck's pretty much ready....

I used to be in the E.C.G., but then my world changed for a bit, I sold my Fairlane before I ever could make a pass, and, well...life goes on.
I know Pat Kelly, and a couple others, good guys, that I've met, anyway...

I just put my harness in tonight!
