Introducing my Fuel Coupe-styled Tudor

I wanted the alternator as low as practical.
This simple mount combines ideas from @D-Russ , @scotty t , & @alfin32 . Thanks, guys.

A double sheer "pivot piece" is made of 1.5" x 1.5" angle. It attaches to the motor mount/frame bolt.


1/4" thick pivots added. One tapped with a 5/16"-18 threaded hole


A slotted "belt tensioning piece" is 3/16" plate.




The alternator is from a Suzuki Samurai; ACDelco #335-1271, generating 55 internally-regulated amps.
Belt is a Dayco #15460.

Lightening holes make everything look faster & cost just a little time.
They also improve quarter mile ETs, gas mileage & reduce carbon emissions.

 

Something satisfying about hand filing a slot like that in metal.

LOVE the headlights Gary - something about fluted Model A lenses that just do it for me. I also have to say, the orange turn signal bulbs flat out WORK behind those lenses! I have always liked that look!

I was shocked when the Hemi instantly fired up. The Edelbrock 650 was spot-on, right out of the box. No leaks in the headers or exhaust. We did find a minor coolant leak where one header bolt threads into the water jacket.
@Dino 64 provided the sanity check.

Background: The engine was rebuilt and started up ten years ago. Afterwards, I poured several tables****s of oil into each cylinder & manually turned it over every month with a ratchet on the crank hub. Specs are in an old engine-specific thread:

The "Otie's Automotive" Fiat Fuel Altered inspired my shifter... with help from some '60's G***ers' B&M "Series 60" shifters & @toxictom 's console.

But I'm limited to ~2.5" max width due to the close-together, tip-forward seats & huge trans tunnel.
Also, comfortable ergonomics & a gear position indicator are must-haves so Wifey can drive it.

 

The results:
A homegrown 1/8" steel bracket attaches to the trans tunnel.


The bracket is slightly offset toward the driver, raising & rotating a new B&M shifter so it's within easy reach.


A traditional-ish housing encloses it.




The guarded toggle switch enables 4th gear lockup.
Paint & powercoating will follow later.

 

….so wifey can drive it !!! …

 

Looks and sounds great! Are those Porter or Smithy mufflers?

 

I could see the sides with a pinstriped panel with engine turning in the panel itself. Looks good man

They're quieter than I remember
But give 'em time...

 

You were focusing on the engine sounds, it was loud, believe …. It was a wonderful sound too

 

There was no room for my stock pistol-grip E-brake.
But this Lokar unit fits under the driver's knees.




Will connect the cables when the tires are down off the cribbing.


I also whipped up a license plate bracket that hangs from the spare tire mount holes.


A racing buddy's expired license served as a template.
