I will try to make this short... my first experience with cars was as a five year old handing tools to my dad who was restoring a 1911 Hupmobile all by himself. It was a beautiful prize winner. If you are familiar with the Harrah’s Auto Collection I was a regular there since my mom worked there. I got to know many of the mechanics/restorers and met Phil Hill and Ken Miles when they were racing for the North American Ferrari Racing Team. This could get long so I will just name some of my cars. As mentioned the 1911 Hupmobile, ’27 T bucket we built in high school, ’55 Chevy street car g***er style, ’57 Chevy street car g***er style, ’68 Camaro Z/28 I bought new, drag raced it [national record], Autocrossed it, Road raced it, ’78 National Autocross championship Camaro Z/28. I also owned and raced what Hot Rod Magazine called the World’s Fastest Corvette. It was a ’76 Greenwood Corvette that went 236 mph at LeMans and held the World’s Closed course speed record set at Daytona. But enough about me. How about you??
Hi, Tom! Welcome to the HAMB. I would say that this would fit well in the New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself section. Quite a resume, but most are too new for this forum. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/guidelines-the-traditional-hot-rod-forum.828348/ Anyway look around, check the place out and have fun.
Welcome Tom. Appreciate the intro and some of your history. You definitely have speed in your blood. Please note that the HAMB is a Traditional Hot Rod and Custom Car 1965 and earlier only Website. Excluded are pony cars such Mustangs etc and no Volkswagens. From the 20's - to mid 60's Hot Rods and Custom Cars / Trucks. I think you are going to like the HAMB. Thanks, Cob Moderator
Watcha wanna hang around here for with these hoodlums.....ha ha ......great bio ....welcome to the family....
Welcome aboard. All of us have HAMB-friendly vehicles to share discussions and photos here on the forum. And.................. many of us also have "off topic" vehicles that we refrain from sharing discussions or photos here. The forum is unique in that aspect. It's sort of like a pedigree deal, but to promote a particular, bygone time period.
You have quite the resume, Welcome!! They all sound like great machines, share some pics if they fit the criteria.
