Introducing... The Asphalt Invitational Car Show

Hi all--

Wanted to let you know about a new Hot Rod and Custom car show coming to the Bay Area this Summer. The Vultures car club will be presenting the 1st annual Asphalt Invitational at Holiday Bowl in Hayward, Ca. on July 10th. Our plan is to do a low key, low buck, back to basics show thats more of a car show than a carnival.

The Asphalt Invitational will be a pre-registered event, limited to 150 cars this year. Guidelines are the familiar 1964 and older, traditional styled Rods and Customs only.

If you are interested in entering, vending, offering a raffle prize, or just coming to check it out, please e-mail me or drop us a line and let us know. It should be a lot of fun...

Sounds cool! Isn't the Strangers car show the day afterward in Campbell? That'd be a nice car show weekend.

The Strangers deal is indeed the next day. I believe they are offering a BBQ show discount if you come to our show on Saturday. We also have discount hotel rooms so you can make a car weekend out of it!

We've got something special for the people that attend both shows. No discounts since our show is only $5 per car. But we are going to have a special raffle for the people who attend both shows.

Jay - can you post the host hotel info on this thread?

We have rooms set up at the La Quinta Inn in Fremont, right in between Hayward and Cambell. The rooms are $59/night + tax & all rooms have 2 beds. Here's the info:

Props to The Vultures and all those who are making this possible. The Holiday Bowl in Hayward is a great place to have a car show: Covered area, bowling, food, large hall, and it seems the whole place hasn't been touched since the late 60's.

Sounds like a great show Jay, but your flyer does not mention how much $ to send you for the registration.

Its an invite deal, so just e-mail a pic of what you want to enter, and your mailing address, and I'll send you an invite- Its $15 to register, but you get some cool goodies for that price.

hey Jay, im not sure if you are the JAy that i know. Im John Dickermans friend. They call me Cake. But anyway. Ill come on down for that. Ill most likely be brining my 49 GMC truck but if the hot rod is done ill bring that. Does is matter what cars we bring if we have a few?

The show is Invite only, so email a pic of your pre-65 ride, and we'll wrap.

Cake- Looking forward to seeing you. Please send pics of the rides your bringing, so I can send you invites. Cars that show up the day of the show will have to park in the overflow. The show spots will be all full when we hit 150 Pre-invites.

Yeah, the Strangers BBQ on Sunday will make it a great weekend event. Strangers have the best candy anyway.

Evel,

You going to both shows that weekend? I can definitely make it, but since I'll also be fixing up our new condo during July I suspect I'll only be able to make one day or the other. It'd be nice to get out and meet some other HAMBers.

I should add that if anyone is going to be at either of the shows and owns a '49 or '50 Shoebox...PM me and let me know if you'd just let me sit in it and imagine myself driving one someday.

You know my goldchain 35 LOL I shaved the drip rails and primed some spots so it dont bling as much??? Just dont put me in the room next to Germ and Nic. I am done celabrating my Gayness!!!
