@Ryan I have an iPhone SE. I see no ads taking over half the screen on the actual auction site. But I’ve always seen them on your writing on the Jalopy Journal.
Prolly wouldn't hurt to promote this new HAMB concept a bit more. If one goes straight to the discussion threads you miss it entirely.
Agreed. I found only one direct link for it. The classifieds don’t have a direct link either. You guys interested ought to hurry up and bid before these get popular.
Well yeah @Sancho go ahead and put the link with all the other links for stuff for sale. Who the hell is gonna look there lmao
Man, this is pinned to the top of the main page. Ryan asked for everyone's help. Share the auction site on what ever other forms of social media you frequent. It is the only way to get the word out. simple as that
@Sancho i was being a smart ass. If you can’t find a link to the the auction site you’d better go get your prescription updated. I’m also posting so this thread stays in the front page and more people see the links
There is a notice about the auction but in order to go to the direct auction you have to read that thread. Not a direct link as I said.
I’m just now starting to promote. I wanted to get a decent number of listings up first. I spent a few thousand advertising on other platforms. I sent my first ever bulk email to users. I will be adding a subtle banner at the top of the classified forums. I will NOT be annoying my users with continuous promotion. The site will work on merit or not at all. Tell your buddies please!
When I google jalopy auction house this discussion comes up, but shouldn’t it take me to the new site?
Have you considered adding a couple minutes time after each bid in the last few minutes of an auction, like they do at "Bring a Trailer"? It prevents someone jumping in with a bid with a couple seconds left and leaving the former high bidder without time to respond.
This is really cool... nice work, the site is really slick. A lot of guys don't know what goes into that. Couple questions, mostly because no auctions have closed yet. I assume closed auctions will be stored and browsable in some way... will sale prices remain public after an auction closes? A lot of auction places hide the hammer price, which is a pain in the ass when you're trying to figure out what something's worth later. This will be even more important if you start handling parts down the road.
Can't wait for the parts part! For those of us that are building instead of buying, that will be a great new avenue.
Just trying to help not to be critical. With my iPhone SE when entering the auction list. The top heading keeps dropping down over top of the car auction pictures. Also in order to view the top current bid pricing I have to turn my screen sideways. See pic. I’m sure when viewing with an actual computer screen these things aren’t happening.
I really like the description of the vehicle Unlike BAT which comes across like a 24 yo used car salesman reading an original sales brochure. These give a description and history of the particular car and owner and/or builder Very nice presentation
I spent a ton of money on advertising and it was a bit more effective than I imagined it would be. So, server got spiked. It's fixed now.
