Hey guys, Mainly been reading and soaking up knowledge. Trying to hopefully shed the "FNG'' label with some posts here. Well this is my project. A 65 Falcon sedan (post car). It was about the cheapest car Ford offered in 65. Rubber mats, no windshield washer, radio delete etc. I bought it about a year ago off Craigslist for $1500 bucks. It's not too bad. Some cancer in the trunk and floors but it's manageable. Will need some work on the drivers door/quarter. So you may be asking, "what is the plan". Well the official inspiration is 60's drag racing but it will not be a totally period correct build. It will have aluminum heads, roller cam, disc brakes. I plan on this car being pretty quick. Before you ask, this is not a gasser build. It'll keep stock A-arm suspension but will be worked to plant. Crites Resto will be hit up for quite a few parts as it's only 20 minutes from me. The drivetrain will consist of my rebuilt 5.0 shortblock backed by a Ford 4-speed Toploader driving my newly acquired Frankland quick change. The goal is 11.50 or faster. In case you're wondering, yes it will remain Tropical Turqoise. It will get glass fenders/hood/bumpers and will be lightened up as much as possible. It's meant to be street/strip car but something that you could have seen in B/FX or something someone might build in the 60's. Rest assured it'll have a big cam, some sort of crazy induction, and some steep gears. It's not meant to be cushy so it'll get stripped. I have my 66 convertible and 04 GTO if I want something cushy. Here are some initial pics. The first order of business was to throw some Granada brakes on it as a V8 swap was in the works and stock 4-lugs were frozen. Enjoy! This is the front quarter action shot ha ha The view most people will be seeing Trunk cancer Another front view. Give you an idea of the interior. It's now all gone for floor repair Soon to be gone... On to real work. Prepping for the Granada swap. Getting ready to pull the stock brakes/spindles. First milestone of the build. Nicked finger #1 The new binders. I wanted 5 lug anyways and wanted a bit more stopping power. Bolts in like stock even with the 6 cylinder tierods, more on that later.... I'll be using a Maverick master cylinder. The right bore size, use the same pushrod and only $38 from Rockauto.com. Conversion bushings from Mustang Steve. I can run 6 cylinder steering with the Granada spindles. If you have a classic Mustang check out http://www.mustangsteve.com/ Very cool stuff Brakes Mounted up Nicked up finger #2 lol Well guys, this is my official project introduction. I try to work on the car once a week so I'll be giving updates. By the way, if you all want the pictures formatted in a different way let me know. Have a good one!
