Hey, I'm Molly. I'm 18 and from Plymouth, Minnesota. I have a 1958 Ford Custom currently in progress. A friend suggested this board because I was told that there are others here with Customs or Fairlanes. So... I just bought a disc brake and power booster kit that was twice the cost of my car... obviously, I want to show these brakes off. What kind of wheels would look nice? I have fifteen inch wheels, just fyi.

Thank you,
Molly [IMG]

Please post pics of yourself, so as that we can provide you with a wheel design that will show off your "brakes."
If that's what they are calling them these days. [IMG]

Well Miss Mayhem, welcome. First off do you have pics of the car in question? And what style are you building it in. The wheels should match the rest of the car. As far as showing off your brakes well I guess thats the latest thing now. But alas we arent really into the latest thing around here. [IMG]

I'm somewhat of a traditionalist, but there's always room for improvement, in my opinion. I'm changing the colors to black and mint green and I'm lowering it a couple inches. I'm not chopping it, because I don't think it'd look nice on this car. I'm keeping all the chrome and trim stock. Basically, I'm only changing a few things. But, I want some nice wheels... not too modern. Chrome would be nice.

7. Welcome from another 58 Ford owner.. I've figured out the disc brakes from junkyard parts..fits great, less money...
I, too, am keeping my 58 stock..its a 4dr wagon. I had a Custom that was restored and wrecked that I bought for parts... I have a new interior, plus trim, etc, if you need anything..
58's look good with a slight lowering, and torque thrust wheels...I'm sticking with hubcaps..

Just paint THOSE wheels black and throw some classy looking caps on it. The hub caps, by design, are for cosmetics, the disc brakes, by design, are for stopping the vehicle.
What is the engine in that 58? If it is a Y block, and even if it isn't and you just have questions about the 58, there is a very informative forum at www.yblocksforever.com, under the "forums" icon, then click "technical."

Paint the wheels black and put some caps on them, or just chrome dust covers & lugnuts and beauty rims.

Disc brakes are to keep the front bumper in "show off" condition, not to show off themselves.... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Welcome Molly,

Like these guys have said, Just cap 'em.

Maybe some Fiestas or something.

I put a disk brake conversion on my wifes 59 Chevy. She has Mehelich wheels and you can see the disks right through them, I think it actually ruins the look of the wheels themselves.

Here is a before pic, don't have one that shows the disks, just picture silver through the front wheel, instead of black.

I will probably put dust shields on just to block the view.
