Hello, my name is Jamie Ford. I grew up in Southern California, specifically Monrovia. Cruised Colorado Boulevard in the early 60's. Went to Art School and worked in the arts until moving to Oregon in the late 70's, where I got interested in cars again. I run a small hot rod shop where I try to focus on traditional cars. I own a hemi powered '53 stude, a 235 powered '27 touring, a f.e.dragster and my real love, my'27 coupe drag car that Rocky helped me get fired for the first time(some vacation, huh Rocky?). I even got to race **** at the March Meet, though I didn't know it was him. I've enjoyed "lurking"on the Hamb and have done so because I'm not very adept yet on the computer. It's hard to teach old dogs new tricks! If I ever figure out how to post photos I'll do it.
Just email me those pics so I can get them up here fast! Welcome aboard man. peter@harbornet.com Later, -peter
Thanks Peter, Now all I have to do is get my daughter to help me email what few photos I have on the computer. -Jamie
welcome, nice intro, i beleive every thing you said. really, no ******** in the intro, lookin forward to seein some pics.
Lockjaw! You finally made it! I couldn't be happier.... Now, all the rest of you'se mugs........try not to be intimidated by this guy but know in your hearts, deep in your hearts, this Lockjaw guy is a rodder's rodder. He lives, breathes and eats hot rods and I do NOT mean rat rods! Lockjaw owns Custom Metal, one of the finest little hot rod shops I've ever seen. The very best machine work and fabrication are performed on a daily basis out of Jami, er, Lockjaw's shop. His work may be equaled but not surp***ed by anyone's work I've seen. And there are some shops in the Northwest that turn out very good work. He doesn't advertise.......doesn't need to. Doesn't even have a sign on the shop. That's the mark of a successful shop. BTW, Don Lowe's new shop has no signs outside either...ever see Don's work? 'Nuff said. Now, send someone some photos, Jamie. How 'bout a close up of the front suspension on the Tet**** II?
Rocky, thanks for filling us in on some of the details for the very modest LockJaw. Sounds like he's going to be a HUGE ***et to the HAMB. Hopefully he'll be able to make it to the Drags next summer.
Rocky I'm blushing! Thank you all for a nice welcome. P.S.As I said on the other post, Scotty sends his best.
Sounds like you have some very cool stuff,I would like to see a pic of the Stude, I have a 53 waiting in the corner and I would like to get some ideals on how to build it.Welcome and enjoy,a lot of good people here and some great info.
Oh, yeah.....You can now kiss all your free time goodbye, Lockjaw. You are now formally "hooked" on the HAMB. It's a great way to hone your typing skills and have a lotta fun. I know you saw Scotty's video of the HAMBdrags, so you already know what a lot of the HAMBers here look like. I'm sure you'll meet some more of them/us as time goes by.
T.........when you see photos of his touring, you'll wanna roll yours off the top of the monument! Talk about a traditional hot rod....with a chevy 235, no less! I haven't seen it since it's been on the road. It was on the ch***is jig last time I was in Lockjaw's shop. I've seen snippets of it on video tho.
Welcome lockjaw. Already seen pics of the drag T, hope to see some of your other cars and the shop.Tell Scotty Andy from Indy said hi. You will be a great addition to our group.
Welcome Lockjaw, Rocky and Scotty have said good thing about you, but I won't hold that against you. I used to cruise monrovia in the 50's and early 60's and was considered a Pasadena boy (east end) Bob's and Henrys were regular stops but"Burger lane" was my hang out, had a 59 triumph bonneville and was the last known owner of the "packard powered olds" moved to Idaho in 76 and Oregon in 90 don't plan any more moves. I live just a few blocks from Donn Lowe and guess I'm going to have to cruise down to check out your shop. look forward to meeting you
