Im Tim from Iowa. Good friends with Kurt (gaspumps). Been helping him some with his cars and worked with him. Im building a 72 gremlin. Its a very limited budget build as im in College and started it at the age of 16. Im a big fan of vintage tin and racing, and have tried to base the build my car around this. I currently have a rebuilt 401 and have started working on adapting a mustang t5 to it. I've worked on a '62 rambler, 63 rambler, 63 Corvair, and will soon start working on a 64 rambler. All these cars i have helped with/ built for a friend of mine. Most everything ive done is out of imagination. Never had anyone to help me with projects till i started working with Kurt over this last summer. I've gotten pretty good with body work and know my way around suspension, but still learning everything about engine work. I can do a basic rebuild but have started looking more into the performance side of things. Im sure theres more, but thats the basics. Just looking for a place that has more of the custom side of auto work and not the plug and go kind of stuff.
hey tim...`72 gremlins are not the norm here , but i had to say i drove a `72 gremlin X to college. had a 258 six and and i wanted to put a 401 in it..drove one once with i believe a 343? and it was quick. good luck
Don't worry guys. I'm slowly getting him to see the light. The Gremlin might not be traditional but at least he's getting his fingers greasy and his feet wet on something that is his. I'm glad it's not a ricer car like most kids his age.
Yeh im not a fan of ricers at all. I chose the gremlin because the price was right, the body needed minor work done and it was within my skill range. It has since gone past my skill range but im still doing everything i can. The best part about the gremlin is that everyone has a story about a gremlin they owned, and its a great conversation starter. That and no one has one anymore. Its kinda unique in its own way.
