As the title says I got a new phone and I’ve tried to post a couple pictures and it says the files are too large. But I have taken some that did post so I’m not sure what’s going on? Anyone know their way around the new phone well enough just to tell me what setting I need to fix to correct this? Thanks!
It’s odd. I took some pics of some wheels to sell and posted them the other night. Some would post and some were too big? All taken at the same time.
It never hurts to try to crop the images. You will be surprised at how much better the photos look if they are cropped. Your new I-Phone 16 has an editing function that you can do this with. I prefer to down load any of my photographs, to my personal computer, whether taken with my old I-Phone 11 or with my Nikon D-600 and edit them that way. Too much sky or too much foreground, or the combination of both, will easily exceed the standard that @Ryan has set for this website. Just a thought to consider. Your results may vary greatly!
This is a screenshot of the pic I was trying to post. I thought the details might help? I tried to post the OG pic here again and it says too big?
I just took a screenshot of the photo in question and cropped it to post in the other thread. But if there is something I can change in settings I’d rather do that. These new phones are amazing with their picture quality!
Ah ok. It’s pretty bad at my house. Just not sure why some of them would have posted and some not when they were all taken at the same time and attempted to upload at the same time? Is your pic on the “standard” settings for the phone?
A non-steady internet connection between you and my servers can cause issues uploading images sporadically for sure.
Hello, The Iphones have increased their pixels per photos and now they are clear and larger. So, save all photos to your own computer. Yes, I know all photos go directly to the Apple Icloud. But, you can see them on your phone, but can't adjust them. It is a pain due to the 3-4 inch screen composite overall. So upload the photos to your computer or laptop files. Now, once they are there, you can use your built in photo detailing program to adjust and resize the photos before copying and pasting them directly. Once, our phones took little dinky megapixel photos and they could be copied and pasted to any website without any problems. But, due to the fact that Apple wants folks to use their camera on the phone instead of getting a 35mm size digital camera from Canon/Nikon/or any other top quality brands speaks for itself. They want you to see the value in takin all of your photos with the phone and not high quality photos with a digital camera. It is getting closer for comparisons but, still a long way to go to he equal to a larger 35mm style digital camera. Jnaki When my wife wants a photo she took as a print, we have to do some adjustment to get the size we want. Or use a Kodak SD card machine. But at home, it is a simple process of resizing it smaller to post on the HAMB. Note: On my phone, the photos are quite large, too. Not an Apple, but an Android. So, for some photos posted on the HAMB I have to use my photo program to resize them. Or copy and paste them on a Word Document to see how big the photo is on an 8x10 sheet. Then lower the size with the corner dots to make them smaller. This is an original 35mm color slide, not Kodak Ektachrome, but an experimental 35mm film strip. The size copied and saved to my own files looks good as shown on my computer. But, when I copy and paste it to show the photo, it automatically enlarges itself to this size. Making it somewhat fuzzy as it gets larger. A copy of the photo slide is used and directly posted to this thread makes it automatically this large. Then, it becomes fuzzier than the original in focus slide. It is just not as clear as the original color slide film transparency. If I use the "upload a file" portion of the HAMB thread, this is the result. So, it is still somewhat in focus and the idea of the hot rod still gets across, but it is not enlarged to the point of being so fuzzy from a normal size 35 mm color slide. And, it is harder to place directly into a series of paragraphs of the typed story. It is used just for an add on accessory to highlight the whole story with a photo or two at the end. For the majority of photos posted, I still use the simple Word Document as a base and start my paragraph writing first. Then add the photos as per necessary to showcase the writing. Copy and paste is simple, but adjustable to fit the story and not overpower the story with fuzzy photos. It is old school, but almost effortless to use the adjustable paste photo aspect of the Word Document. It is a trial and error practice until the whole story is finished. Then, it is ready to copy and paste as per topic or HAMB thread. It is not just a rush to get a dozen photos from the web to copy and paste without any history or facts to go along with the photo(s) YRMV
Thanks for the write-up. Unfortunately we don’t have a computer so all my browsing is on my phone or tablet. I may just have to resize as necessary via screenshot/crop as it seems to work?
I had the same problem as the OP. My new iPhone pics would not load. I cropped them and everything worked fine.
You should be able to not only crop them but you can also resize them, to reduce the size of the photo. Like a 2000 x 1000 down to 1000 x 500, which will reduce the megabytes of the photo. I can do it with my cheap Android, so you certainly should be able to with your iphone. Kind of a pain, but it might help.
