I'm working on a '50 Lincoln. It's been converted to 12V, but is still positive ground and converting to Neg ground isn't a possibility, the owner wants to keep the original radio intact. The owner wants to use his iPod to control a modern stereo system(just the iPod interface, amp, and speakers). I know I'll need to completely isolate all the stereo stuff from the rest of the car, that shouldn't be a problem. The question is how do I run the power wires for the system? Should I just run both power and ground cables directly to the battery? What else do I need to do in order not to fry anything? Thanks for the help.

  2. I would think if you isolate the amp on a piece of wood, it wouldn't be a problem. Im guessing the speakers would be okay because if you ever wire speakers backwards they still play, they dont short out. As far as the interface that you mentioned I would not know. I was planning on linking my mp3 player from the headphone jack to the amp rca inputs. let us know how it works out.

I'd run it directly from the battery. Make sure you have a fuse in there no more than about 18" down the positive line.
