Is $10,500 too much for this '32 Tudor project?

CONGRATULATIONS on stepping up and buying the sedan :) :)

Anytime a question of value is asked here ... you will get many different responses and ideas. Some will say it is a great deal ... other will poo poo the sale.
IF you have the $$$ and want the car it really does not matter what others think !!

Some say it is not a good deal :( but how many 32 Fords do they own ??? most likely NONE. A few of the ones who say it is not a deal ... are looking to BUY cheap and sell high. And I guarantee .. that IF they owned it ... it price would be even higher. :(

I take it and pick it up tomorrow ***le is no problem. Let me know before it gets to late. I'll have to go out back and dig up a couple of cans.

The frame has a VIN serial number. I think it's on top of the right rail about where the p***engers feet go? (I may be wrong but it does have one.) Does the frame come with a ***le with that number on it? If not, Get clear ***le on the frame before doing anything else with it.
Redo your budget and buy it. (After running that serial # past the local authorities that is.)

Unless a guy just flat made a screwed up mess out of it the value won't go down on that one.

The last time I was at the Portland swap meet I think the asking price for a body alone was that much for the one I looked at.

As others mentioned on that body it appears that what you don't have to do in normal rust repairs makes it worth quite a bit more than the normal rusted out one you see for sale.

If I didn't already have too many projects I'd be calling my brotherinlaw and having him pick that one up for me. He's got plenty room to stash it away until I can do a road trip.

But there is a lot of difference between the 3500 Chopped body and the 10,500 body and frame with a stack of extra pieces and a hell of a lot less body repair to do.

There are actually three locations for the Vin all on top of the drivers side rail of the frame. First one just in front of the firewall, second about midway back and the third on the kickup. I found only one remaining on my first C Dan project way back when and it was on the kickup. Got the ***le changed to reflect that number and in California as well. That was back in early 90's. Probably a lot harder to do now days.

  8. Get the ***le in your hand for the car your buying .. If someone else is using that number
geez the list of problems gets bigger

    your just losing it
if the paperwork is missing ...
Who can the guy sell the ***le to if you have those numbers

    good luck

That's about what I paid for mine in similar condition, complete car. And I'm glad I did.

My stance used to be, "why pay 10.5 for a project?" or "'32 Fords are way over rated." But ever since I started working on my '31 Chevy (big difference I know) my view has totally changed. If I could I'd buy it.

if your talking just bodies....that is too much for a 2 door sedan body. You can buy a 5w coupe body for 10.

  12. True, but what's a good original frame worth?

Settle down Nancy. If he's asking for opinions on a 10,000 dollar purchase of a Tudor, its safe to say he "doesn't know people" or "know where to find this stuff." Not everyone is dialed into the 32' world as you clearly are.

  16. A guy a few years ago had a chopped 5 window body - no floors, some lower cowl rot, an old hot rod with a fairly fresh black primer paint job so who knows what else was hidden under that, came with fenders but no hood or grille. He sold it for $12,500 before noon at a small local swap meet. 10,500 for a rot free tudor with frame, clear vin, and ***le available is probably not too bad.

I guess I missed out. I offered him a trade for a gl*** roadster that I have been building for a long time. He never got back with me .

I have a 32 sedan that I bought about 6 months ago.It has all the thing missing that body
has, plus 36 bullet holes.I paid 7k for it and I think I got a good deal.I looked at a lot 32 bodes and the one I have is the best I found. I put in two wheel houses from Brookville for a roadster, new patch panel all around. Lot of welding. I still need two door panels $$$.
I can see 14k in the body ready for paint.
