I apologize in advance but as a mopar guy I know little about Fords. I had a guy call me about buying a 53 ford victoria 2 door sedan. Im being honest in saying that if I buy it, it would be to trade off for Mopars, studebakers or stuff I collect.

I just dont know if they are desirable???? It have not seen it but I did look at some on line. They do look kinda cool.

Hell Yes!!! They're good looking cars. Always liked the 53's more than the 52's or 54's.

Is it a Victoria (hardtop) or a two-door sedan. Makes a big difference.

  5. I assume you checked EBAY, allcollectorcars.com and the auto trader etc? If it is stock you might ask on fordbarn.com. Don't waste everyones time without a picture.

In the old car hobby there are plenty of Ford fans who would find it desirable. At the time it was built hot rodders and custom car guys were Ford fans, 9 times out of 10. So yes it is desirable in the old car hobby and especially among hot rodders and custom car guys. In fact Fords are the most popular old car in general.

53 is the last year of the flathead V8 so now you have the flathead fans after it. So, not as desirable as a 32 Ford roadster but pretty desirable. If you are used to dealing in Mopars you might be surprised how fast it sells and how much it is worth.

I wouldn't waste your time. In fact just send me the guy's number and I will give him a call and chastise him for even trying to sell such a worthless pile. No need to thank me.

  9. The 52-54 Fords that at one time were overlook have grown exponentially in popularity in the past 15 years and share a similar body style, the 52/53's both are equipped with Flathead's,Ford introduced the 54's with the first overhead valve engine and a independent front suspension. HRP

I wish I had a pic but I dont yet. I have a local add for old Mopars and this lady called me and told me what she had. I am attempting to go outside the one brand mentality. She sounded older and didnt know how to get me a pic. So I think I will go check it out and get some pics. I do think she said 2 door sedan. I would guess a hardtop is better? I will post some pics when I am able to go check it out. Its approx an hour away and today is suppose to snow pretty hard so when I go I always take a trailer and today would not be a good trailer day. And no I didnt check some of the aforementioned websites. Figured I would check here first since I know this board. I do need to change my picture as I recently sold all my cudas including a 70 Cuda vert and Im going all older stuff.

Victoria hardtop rare and worth 2X a plain sedan. 2 door sedan or coupe more desirable than a 4 door.

53 Fords are cool cars - if it is a Victoria even better.

They make nice mild customs, many find them more than desirable.

OK, I was able to talk to the husband today. Its a Ford Victoria 2DR HT, not a sedan. It has a title but no drive train. He "SAYS" No rust through but it has surface rust. Its missing one trunk hinge and one hood hinge and the emblem that covers the lock on the trunk lid. I dont know these cars, are these parts hard to come buy if a guy wanted to make a Ratrod kinda rig. It sounds like it missing some trim because he says its a good candidate for an all black lowered ratrod rig. Im honest to a fault that I know nothing about Fords. Saying that, if a guy wanted to build a cheap driver, what more modern engine will fit into this without too much work.

I am buying a 34 Plymouth and an going with either a slant 6/ 318 or 360 for it. I have a great understanding how to do a cheap mopar build. So I would need to learn how to do a similar FORD build. At least its not a Mustang. It has a kinda cool front and rear to it in checking pics on line.

Like I said before its snowing up where I am as well as down there. I cant see it until Monday, so I will have pics then. However the wife says she has pics somewhere and is looking for them.

Well, bless her heart she seems to like me and keeps searching for pics. She found two pics. The interior is toast it seems.

They want me to make them an offer. The hubby is an old hotrod guy and he probably has a much better idea on its value is than me. It sounds like a builder for a rod project as it may need some parts like chrome to take it back to original.

OK, maybe Ratrod is the wrong word. Mild custom. But that was the sellers statement.

After I get it home this spring and get the title straightened out I will be selling a 53 Customline. I do not expect it will take much to get a fair price out of it. If the price of the one you mentioned is right it should be an easy sale also. Rod

Yes, really! Whats hard to understand if a guy has been brand specific he may not know other brands? As far as old cars, I have had a 38 Plymouth and a 32 Plymouth and a 57 Dodge. Then a ton of mopar muscle cars. So, I dont know if certain parts are hard to come by for this car. But if you dont ask, you cant learn.

OK, so maybe Ratrod is the wrong term? Something other than stock and correct drive train. I read above a mild custom. maybe thats a term thats more suited for a project. Im a recovering 60s-70s muscle car from a world of " everything must be correct on that cuda" world. Thats why I left.

I cant recall. It was a 2 dr rumble seat coupe. I had plans to put a 392 HEMI in it. But it was a very stock clean body and I could not bring myself to cut up the firewall, which I would have had to do to get the 392 in it. So I sold it off and started building the 38. For some reason I cant find all of the pics I had of it. I do have the pics that the seller sent me before I bought it. right side of body (2).jpg

'53 Vic is a 50 year anniversary model. My '53 Vic was lowered (more in back) had Foxcraft skirts, '55 Desoto grille, shaved hood, deck, doorhandles, frenched headlights, and Olds taillights. (frenched) Taildraggin' Custom, lovely and cool...

Loved that car, but now have a '54 Coupe. (later frame layout, large tube front crossmember, ball joint front suspension... and my 406 was a Bolt-In, with 352 mounts. (NAPA) Trans is a 'RAT' toploader 3 speed, with Jeep tower...Close ratio with a direct (REAL) floorshift.
Nothing wrong with these cars, ('52-'54) great mild customs. Parts abide for them.
