I am sure there are plenty of other 32 fords w/perfect sheetmetal to take its place in the endless line of 32 fords out there. Do what you want to do. Heck use the whole mopar body if you want. If you aren't running a sbc in it i am also sure that in the endless line of 32 fords there are plenty of those to take its place too. Tell em to worry about thier own cars.

I am shocked by the responces of the traditional guru's. I kept looking for someone to blow you out for even thinking about it.

Go get that tail section and build your car.

The best thing about building any car is driving it.

No, this is a deuce Tudor, Not a coupe. And its the entire back panel from above the rear window to the bottom where it is spot welded to the subframe.

I seems that the guys most offended by this crazy-ass idea are the MOPAR guys (of which I am also one [37 Plymouth sedan delivery & 31 Dodge 1/2 ton PU]). I was worried about that, with those vintage Plymouths and Dodges being such blue bloods and all. Thanks for the input so far.

I have the entire back half of a Deuce Tudor (rough), from the "B" pillars back, I have been holding it for a friend in Canada for about 3 years,... I could contact him to see if he still wants it,....

  6. I'd keep the Plymouth intact and keep looking for a Ford panel.

Go for it...I am sort of in the same predicament with my 36 Olds coupe...I can't find doors for it..but I found 36 chev doors...So I am going to change the little body line behind the door to match the chev doors....no big deal to me....

As was pointed out by someone on a different thread, it's only metal. Do it if ya think it'll work for you. If it can be welded in, it can always be taken back out.
    Good luck with it!

Any deuce, even fiberglass, is better than none, and here we're talking metal. Why not get together pictures of hole and panel, and post them for comment from the several genius level metalworkers on here? There are also probably folks on here who could roll beads to help keep things matching.

Would it be possible to use the Plymouth parts to turn your 2Dr into a Sedan Delivery?

    Just a thought...

  12. When I bought my 34 5window body the firewall(and then some) was cut off. I made it work for what I could afford at the time. That said, I'm having a blast driving it and have been doing so for almost 5 years. A lot of people think its a mopar because of the flatter firewall, but it doesn't bother me. I plan to fix it sooner or later with a full cowl I found not too long ago. But until then I love driving my hotrod!!

Just have fun and enjoy it. If it means more to drive it, do it. If it means more to have a perfect body wait til you find the pieces.

Send me the rest of the bottom of that Plymouth so I can start my metal surgery!

Do it, and once paint is on, most folks will not notice. Those that do, well, they are staring at your car too much anyways. =) Don't please the masses, start with just you!

That may be possible, but I'm already finding out just how hard it is to build a sedan delivery, even when it is original. I have a late 1931 Ford Sedan delivery project that almost all the wood has rotted away leaving poor to non-existant wood patterns. Replacing the wood, even with metal, will be a Bi-ch! The sheet metal on that project is nice though. Anyway, think I'll pass on converting the Deuce to a Delivery.

Hell, I thought that when I signed up for the 'HAMB Plymouth Club', I's already reached the pinacle of my social climb.

Why don't you find a panel beater with a wheel and bead roller and have him make you a rear panel? I'm having a shop in Michigan do a sedan delivery conversion for me and he said he has made the rear panel when the original body panel was to damaged to use. I saved a rear panel for many years for the conversion but he said he doesn't need it. My body was in good shape.

  20. I wouldn't do it, and anyone who knows Deuces would know it wasn't "right".

Do it the right way even if it means relaxing your search area, wallet, and willingness to patch parts together.

If money is an issue, then by all means use the Plymouth panel...you'll actually get to enjoy your car sooner! Our cars are just that - ours. Most of us do what we have to in order to drive and enjoy them.

A steel 32 of any make is better than a tupperware car.
