so, im thinking i want my A baremetal. thing is, i live in the UK. that means damp air, road salt, and rust. looking at a couple of sites, they hype gibbs mega penitrant stuff for protecting bare metal, both ally and steel. says it leaves it moisture-proof without a sticky finish.

thing is, they would say that, theyre trying to sell me it!

has anyone in a climate damper than super-dry cali used it? is it worth a go? id dont mind having to recoat every few months. the car will live in a garage, but will be driven all year round. i dont want the steel to stay super shiny, i do want it to dull down a bit with age, but i dont want a lot of brown stains coming through.

    Cheers

    ive read all those.

again, all the hype is by the vendor(whos from arizona, so i find it hard to take what he says about rust prevention), little in the way of 3rd party accounts, half the key questions unanswered, and a lot of bitching cos someone tried to do a proper test.......

  4. My headlight bar is bare steel. I live in Nor Cal where it seems like it's rained every fucking day this winter. I also live a half mile from the ocean. Everything else here rusts, but I wipe down my headlight bar with Gibbs once every six months and it looks like stainless. Works for me.

I'm on the Southeast coast and I just got 6 cans of the stuff in last week. My plan is to soda blast half of my car and keep it in bare metal for the next few weeks as a promotional stunt for my new blasting business. I probably won't be able to do it for at least another week. I too, am curious about the Gibbs hype! I'll post my results afterwards.

I Soda Blasted the drivers side of a car for promotional purposes in Jan. sprayed gibbs on it once, took it to the San Antonio Autorama car show had a bunch of hands all over it hauled it back to the shop and there it sits. And it still has no rust on it. The stuff works!
