Is Halibrand back in business??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SamIyam, Dec 14, 2003.

  1. I stumbled onto a site that had prices, pictures... the whole deal...
So I was just wondering... is it safe yet to order something from them?

    Sam.

  5. What I'm in the market for our some 15x8" Halibrand Sprints... I need a new pair or NOS pair... I have 11"ers that I want to get rid of... and go with a narrower rim on my A-bone.
    Sam.

HAMBer roadsters.com seemed to be following the "is Halibrand back in business" story pretty closely. If he doesn't see this, you could go to his website (same as his HAMB ID) and email him about it.

They claim to be in biz, and "never were otta Biz..."
I'm not sure I believe it or would give them any money, unless by credit card where you might have some recourse.
I talked with them (Karen) in the beginning of last Summer when I found the website too. I was looking for Kidney Beans, they didn't quite have them ready is what I was told.
Haven't payed much attention to them since then. I don't have much faith in them as you can probably tell.
I've seen them selling wheels on ebay too, some even un-machined and as cast. Worthless to me.

  9. There is a stockpile of old Hali wheels in Kansas. Too bad none of them are usable sizes or styles. My boss bought all he could find in the pile that were usefull. No, Halibrand doesnt own em. One of the Aerospace companies Richards family was involved in has em. They seized what they could in the end. Too bad they are all right side Sweet Swirls.

Its a pity that a bunch of you US based HAMBers with some machining skills can't get together and buy the production rights, moulds and inventory, and start making QC rear ends and those windowless and older style wheels again.

I do not think they ever closed the doors, but were just trying to get their stuff together. I bought some parts for my quick change from them about 8 months ago, maybe less but I had no problems. But I always say buyer beware. good luck.

oh, I see this happened since I bought stuff fron them, sorry

  13. If its the same guy that bought the old molds and started up out in Kansas it would be a piece of cake for one of us to run out and seal the deal on parts n pieces. That way you would know you were getting what you want.
I haven't heard of anyone having trouble with the new pieces. But...
If they went through a reorganization (bankrupcy) doesn't mean that you can't get stuff from them they just don't owe any interest to the powers to be.
I've seen some of the new stuff, and you can't tell it from the original stuff, other than it hasn't been thrashed yet.
