What is the correct response when someone who has never owned an older vehicle asks you..."Why didn't you buy a convertible/is it a convertible"?followed by a sigh. Thank you, puzzled
"If I told you, I'd have to kill you." When they laugh,, look them dead in the eye and don't smile or blink, then slowly walk away.
Most folks look at an old car like it's a replica in the Danbury Mint catalog. Either it's a red '57 Chevy convertible or it doesn't register on their scale of cool.
It might help to know what the car in question is. I'd say yes, I can convert it to anything I want, cash, lawn ornament, dali-style metal sculpture, but I'd rather just keep the way it is and drive it.
Thanks everyone.I am just getting sick of that initial small talk question after 20 years of owning old cars(including 1 conv.)and never know how to answer it.Ill reserve cutting the top off my caddy for now. as some have suggested.
I would think it would be self explanatory... If you see a roof made of metal and attached to the car, then I would hazard a guess that it might NOT be a convertible.. I had people ask me that in high school and later on because I always bought cheap cars and hacked the roof off. But they figured it out too. That is a weird question depending on the situation..
Normaly I wouldnt post anything on a thread like this, but - WTF ! There must be a page missing in my script.
Once you get there, there you are. ________________________________________________________Like I told the kid,"Your music not too loud, it just ****s!"
I would, as politely as possible, karate chop them right in the throat... then ask "what are you, stupid or something" that would be my answer... pretty much the same thing I would like to do to all the people starting these useless threads
God has his way of looking out for even the most mentally incapable of his creations, unfortunately you won't know of his plans until after you're dead. Ponder on, if you must, but know that it will do you no good.
I think you just did. Tell them you didnt have $50,000 laying around for a rough 57 convertible so bought a four door.
