Seems like just in the last week I have seen more newbies just bustin in with no intros - especially in the classified sections.

I have however seen some real nice intros done by some of the FNG's.

Nothing against them, but seems like lots of new posters here recently.

  2. Probably just you.
The classifieds are for non-members, too... I think.

I was trying to keep up with Rocky, but that's not gonna happen... [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Plus I've been here since a week after the iMac came out... '99, '98 maybe? (I'm old, the years blur.)

Ya see, I go out to the garage and wrench a while and drink coffee and wrench and then need a "coffeee exchange break in the boys room so I pass by the puter and play a little, then go back to the garage and wrench some more.
Got the engine back in the Elky today.
Now tomorrow I have to figure out all them goofy angles on that weird-ass 2 piece driveshaft after I cut some coils outa the rear springs Cadillac put CV joints in their version of a 2 piece driveshaft in '63. Guess Chevy didn't rate.
And finish cutting up what's left of Burndup's "Custom" Volvo and haul it to the recycling center.

It doesn't look like a FWD CV joint. It's a doubled up U joint contraption in a housing at both ends of the rear shaft. They used them on early Olds F85s too.

What say we drag this thread down several goofy-assed tangents?

Hows Ruby's diner cruise night doing?

There's pictures of them in 60's Motors repair manuals but they don't show them inside.
Picture a drive shaft thats only about 4-6" long with a U joint at each end, but the shaft is hollow and one U joint spider has a pin on it that fits in a rubber insulated hole in the other U joint spider so the unit stays relatively aligned. that makes it work like a in phase shaft but with two of them the pinion angles matching engine/trans angles don't matter any more.

That reminds me a lot of the drive shafts on a Front Wheel Drive Alfa Romeo Van I used to own.
They were the achilles heel on a vehicle that would have been a************** with or without them...

Good Lord--I just wasted five minutes trying to understand that picture as a drawing of a universal joint.

That's OK Chuck, we all just take turns******ing sometimes. LOL

There is a certain pace to things here and when it changes or is disturbed various of us crotchity f**ks get torqued at various time and over various things. Some people's thing is new folks, mine is people tryin' to sell something to people before getting to know them (no offense, because you turned out to be a nice, fair guy), and I'm sure someone's pet peeve is ME. [IMG] So it's all good in the end. It's a friendly board but it's even friendlier if people get started on the right foot. That's all.

Now someone hurry up and start a 'Big Daddy Eric Needs A '57 Olds' fund g#%&*@m it! Cuz I'm poor. [IMG] And I guess while we're at it we should start Rashy an 'Elko Fund' so he'll shut up too. LOL

Now listen to what my granny used to say and, "Y'all be sweet to each other now."
