Is it possible to have a low-boy truck with a useable bed?

  1. T-bird IRS is probably going to be the small Ford pattern, 5x4.5" -

i'm thinking 1/4 eliptic's mounted low you probably could.... it may need to be designed around this idea but it is certainly doable as long as the pumpkin is lower than the bed floor

i have seen people do small step notches run lower profile tires and get right near the ground with taking little space out of the bed. as you can see i did not take this into consideration when doing my rear suspension :)

Now.... How about if I want to sit on the ground and still be able to tow 5000lbs? Working on a 48 1-ton Chevy.

T bird IRS is 5x 4 1/2. Many have limited slip, some are peg leg. Mine is a 3.08 limited slip. It is an 8.8, plenty strong enough. They have great travel, ride and handle well. It is the same rear as the LSC and Mark VIII. Stay away from the Cougar rear end, it is a 7.5,

i just threw a small step notch in my apache build. im runnin leafs outback still but sittin loww. worst case ill have a small hump in the bed floor or just raise the floor a few inches. it will still be very usable but i will sacrifice a small bit of space. if you go air ride with a notch and four link and all the compressors n **** back there you are gonna lose room fast. the irs idea is a great one
