Hey guys I’m planning on buying this Model A Frame with a matching ***le to start my AV8 Roadster project. Should I try to find something better or is this a decent piece to start with??? I’m planning on using Vern Tardels K member. What do you guys think??? Adjustments.JPG Adjustments.JPG Adjustments.JPG

Is a ***le worth the price? Probably worth more as a ***le than as a frame in Cali.

If it measures out square on the diagonals and you plan on boxing the rest, no rust throughs, no cracks, yada, yada, looks good. Partial boxing puts stress on the frame right after the plate ends. But if your getting Vern's K-member, get his book too.

Good deal! In many states having a frame with a ***le is a gold mine as far as the DMV is concerned.

And how do you suggest that he get the numbers from that frame, to some other frame, without violating California, or Federal law?

Answer carefully, because bad advice here could cost him a vehicle, or worse.

It’s not against the law to build the frame & put body on it is it??? I’ve already confirmed that the ***le & frame match??? I’m not looking to do anything dishonest. Just want to build a hot rod legally. That’s why I thought buying a frame with ***le would be a good starting point.

No sir, it is not. Have at it! And make sure you have fun.

If the issue date of the ***le is over 5-years ago, you will need a private verifier to sign off on a REG31 form.

    https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/wcm/c...9627-f89e7ce14828/reg31.pdf?MOD=AJPERES&CVID=

I would do it, but you are a little far for me.

Very good starting point. You are lucky you found the frame with a ***le for what you did. It will save you a lot of headaches down the road.

?? I don't understand what you mean. You must have misunderstood what I said. I never said anything about transferring numbers. My meaning is that having the ***le with it is probably worth buying the frame.
Take a chill pill, you may know what you are talking about but your at***ude is lacking.

Me being the cautious type, I suggest getting the thing safely transferred into your name immediately, just in case there's some nasty glitches.

Nope. Your words were taken at face value.

I will put them back out there: "Is a ***le worth the price? Probably worth more as a ***le than as a frame in Cali."

It is a violation of Federal law, and CA law to use a ***le for a vehicle, for which it was not issued. All 50 states, including yours.

Your statement "Probably worth more as a ***le than as a frame in Cali." implies using it for a frame other than this one. Without a ***le, a frame has no iden***y. Without a frame, a ***le is a useless piece of paper.

If I did not understand what you meant, it is because you said it wrong, and owe me an apology for YOUR at***ude.

We really have to get rid of some past practices that are now felony level crimes. Yeah, it's well known that we used to float ***les and data plates around to byp*** what we thought were idiotic and restrictive laws. Well, when the value of many cars runs well into the thousands, and unscrupulous people are going to take advantage of illegitimate paper, the situation is different. Turning a blind eye doesn't help. Giving out **** advice doesn't either. And, if I had access to that deal, I'd snap it up in a heartbeat.
