i was out riding around on my property today, and came upon an old car.....it has a chevy tag in the middle of the dash, split front window, suicide rear doors, the front door vent windows crank open with a door mounted roller handle And thats all i can tell rite now....it is the body shell only, with no gl***. the roof is in very good shape considering, and the front.....i beleave its called the cowl ? the firewall/where the fenders connect ? anyway it is in REALLY good shape as is the windshield frame/front doors. The car is technically already mine i just didn ever venture out that far on that side of the property...SO should i drag it out and try doing something with it or jsut let it rot ?
Of course you should drag it out. Even if the body isn't fixable, someone will want that dash, the doors, the cowl and firewall. Don't let anything go to waste. With a split windshield, I'm wondering what year car this is. Any pictures?
"SO should i drag it out and try doing something with it or just let it rot ? " OF course you should!!! I wish I had something on my property to drag out!!! By the way, where is the pictures?????????? WE need Pictures!!!!!!!lol
Pretty hard to advise you on what to do here with out pics, but it is on your property so if it was me I would drag it out & at least let someone salvage a part off it before you let it die where it's at. Drag it out, list it here for sale. The absolute worst thing that can happen is that no one is interested and you s**** it. Either way you are helping the environment & contributing to helping the hot rod family. Good Luck.
Sounds like 30s era, seems like the mid-40s Chevys the back doors open conventionally. Yeah why not bring it out and do something with it, if it's not shot to **** and rusted up to the beltline?
ok guys i will get pictures ASAP.... hopefully tomaro. From what i can find on google,it seems to be a 37'ish chevy 4-door sedan....as far as land,I only have about 11 acres but my land connects to national forest on 2 sides....with about 100 acres of "owned" land rite behind, and to one side of me...after finding this old car i scoured the rest of MY land to find nothing but.....TREES anyhow i car does look ruf as it's driver side rear panel is bent almost under the car....but i am up for a tedious metal work kida project.....the hard part will be geting it home i will have to get my samurai running so i can get it out,it is at the very rear of my property with a few trees growing through it and i have a decent size creek to get across, but i WILL bring the car out.
so,i went out today to get pics,in a rain storm....anyhow i wouldn get very good ones because of the trees it was surrounded by i dug it out of the stiks/mud/leaves a little and decided as much as i wanted to build it up its probly to far gone. The rear hump is all torn up,missing the driver rear door....the only thing left of the rear p***y door is the frame....the rear window frame is all bent outa shape...the p***y front door is also rusted badly....and its missing the p***y rear fender.I would really like to work it but i dont know where to even start. but here are a cuple pics they really dont show the damaged areas but it was raining and hard to manuver thru the brush.
Eh... I wouldn't feel bad if you chose not to do anything with that ol' girl. It could make cool yard art at the very least though... or as others have mentioned, you might have some parts there that someone could use. Best of luck, and cool find!!
Dash and door hinges are probably worth saving, maybe a handful of other small parts. Doesn't look like much else from the pictures though.
I think before you do anything, you need to run the VIN and see just who parked it there, and then send them a registered letter asking how much they want for the car, and don't forget to add the fact that there will be storage charges. Be sure to ask him for the keys and any do***ents he might have. There's really no reason you can't have that car on the road in less than a week. Heck...if Jesse and his guys can turn out a Moon Rover with twin reverse rotation Hemis and it's own JATO mounts, you ought to be able to bring that vintage ride back to life in no time at all. I'd leave that light crusting on the metal - it adds character and denotes from which part of the country the vehicle comes from. dj
HA,i aint been here long and i know your just asking for trouble chop....haha if i were to invest any time into it then i would fix it up for a family cruiser. I was once told by a restoration shop that if they have a firewall/windshield and roof that they can make it whole agin....long shot to fix it up i know but i caint get it outa my mind...
where would i find replacement sheet metal for this ol' thing ? like the rear hump panel ? or rear fenders,or rear quarters ?
Yea, but most know I'm kidding As for fixing up, here is a prime example of where your wallet and talent come into play. IF you know how to do all the metal work yourself, then it "might" be worth saving. However, if you don't, with shop rates what they are, you will have WAY more into getting it fixed then it will EVER be worth.
Okay here's what you need to do: Take the tractor out there and drag it out of the woods. Inspect it thoroughly, decide what parts you need to make a car out of it again. Go buy a parts car that has all those parts on it. Call the s**** man to haul off the one you pulled out of the woods. Build the parts car. Seriously, good luck with it,
