Well, I have mixed emotions on this one too. I have a friend who is more than 10 years into a 'rebuild' and I can see that he has lost most of his motivitation. I've been encouraging him to buy a running car so he can have fun again in a car. I don't think he will do that and unfortunately I don't think he will ever finish either of the projects he has. Sad.

Would you rather own and enjoy a car now? If you don't have the time, you don't have the time. I don't think anyone will argue that it'd be better to drive nice old car someone else built than a new car.
Most of the people on this board have built some damn nice cars that they've sold. Someone owns those cars now and I'm sure they're enjoying the hell out of them.
    Good Luck,

    bullicious,

When all is said and done, there's absolutely nothing wrong with buying a new ride. Just buy one as close to the style you want. Its not hard to buy close to what you want and then make changes maybe wheel & tires , change the color, before you know it its a new ride. Building your own ride is over hyped and its not for everyone. I've build my own rides and purchase others and it truly makes no difference. Never worry about what others say about your ride its of no consequence.

    Be cool

Buy it and enjoy the cruises while you can, then when you have time
build the one from your heart.

It depends if your talking about building a car or ***embling a car. There's a whole lot of difference. Maybe one person out of 50,000 could build a car.

    I wouldn't buy a car from nummnut.

Do you know he wears dresses out in the garage like Klinger from MASH?

Third Coast Hot Rods? Yeah, you have to watch your back.......door! Ha Ha Ha

Nummnut Billy's roadster is the ginchiest, not too bad...for a skirt wearer.

Do what you want...it's your money.
Just don't refer to the car as something it's not.

Agreed. I was at a show one day looking at one of my former cars which was totally unchanged since I built it, and listened to the new owner make up all kind of stuff about it, because he didnt have a clue what was in, under, or around it. We had never met because a friend had brokered the deal, I had to fight to keep from laughing.

You're the one handing over the the green,so this one is all yours. I went all the way to the end of the thread to see what was said. Make sure that this is a car that you dig! Next, make sure the ch***is can handle that 346 Flatty Caddy. Another thing here. Make sure that space limitations are addressed when really looking it over. Above all, make sure that it won't kill ya!

I've had lots of friends that have built/bought cars. I built a 34 3W black hi boy for myself, This A-hole who @ the time was a friend, wanted it real bad.
I took a car of his in on trade some cash & he owed $5k more. Never saw a dime of it what he owed me, I made a huge mistake by taking someone @ their word which if ya don't have that ya don't have sh*t!

He approached me on this sale, not the other way around, but I heard him say on more than one occasion say to people who didn't know "that he built the car," not only did he not pay me, but didn't give any credit, another time I heard that he was talking sh*t about the cars build. ( I drove the car across the country & up & down this state w/o incident- I wish I knew what happened to it:confused:)

Too funny, cuz he swapped a guy for a Harley, then tried to trade back, talked sh*t about that deal and that guy told him to get f*cked!!!!!!!!!
He told him that "You burned the guy that you got it from!:p "

Now, this is why you have to make sure that you check it out GOOD.

Relax, cuz when you put that Caddy in, it will take on a personality all its own;)
Just make sure all parties are happy with transaction.:D
