History Is Paul Stage( 2 time NHRA winner) still around

I just picked up a car that Paul Stage built in 1970 and was featured in Car Craft back in 1970 and didn't know if Paul Stage was still with us, I'd love to talk to him about the car, story is that all the pinstriping on it was done by Von Dutch.

I don't recognize the name. What did he win? What class? Division (region) ?

 

This issue includes Paul Stage's 396ci Chevy-powered VW feature

 

Stage ran a rail with a 'glass '23 T body with the turtle deck. The class was Modified Roadster, and he either ran a hemi or BBC, can't remember which one.
