Hot Rods Is the Cadillac High Performance Website a scam now?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ekimneirbo, Jan 7, 2020.

  1. I've found that many car guys are good machinists, painters, etc., but terrible businessmen. They get in over their heads and then hit the road. Either that or they are crooks, whatever the reason, the result is the same.

Good to know. But, businesses do change hands, get inherited by a less interested offspring, fall on hard times, and otherwise, change their previously good reputation. I would want to also know how they have done recently before sending any significant amount of money to someone.

This is a bummer to hear. MTS (Maximum Torque Specialties) was always the go-to for buddies of mine that ran Cadillacs.

I knew a guy years ago that ran a bored 500 with a whole bunch of speed goodies from MTS in an '86 Monte Carlo with a powerglide. Shit was dipping into the mid-10s.

    Good News ! :D:D:D:D:D:D
Paypal contacted me today and said thay had resolved my case in my favor and were refunding the $2700 I spent to purchase a set of Aluminum Heads from Cadillac High Performance.
There is another company selling high performance aluminum heads called Cad Company and located in Arizona. To the best of my knowledge they have no affiliation with Cad High Perf.
They seem honest because when I called to ask about their aluminum heads the lady told me up front that they have the castings but the machine shop that does their work has been overwhelmed and they can't say when they will be available. At least they were honest up front.

My point with making all this public is to allow others to see the problems that CHP caused me and that they lied to me for over two months and I would probably be out $2700 if it were not for Paypals intervention. If any of you still wish to do business with this company, thats up to you. The other point I want to make is that all of you should consider using Paypal when you make expensive purchases. This is the second time they have come thru for me on a high dollar purchase, so I'm very happy with them.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

This has been a very unpleasant experience and I hope all of you avoid similar experiences.
    Let the buyer beware !

    Updated information 2/22/20
Started a new thread with the info below to clarify some things.

Recently I posted a thread about attempting to purchase some parts from a company and using Paypal to protect my money. Things worked out and Paypal came thru with a refund when the less than honest company failed to send me the parts I ordered. This was a $2700 purchase.
Since then I was made aware of a feature that I don't know a lot about, so if I mis-state this, please correct me. Apparently they have something called "Friends and Family". I'm assuming that it allows people to either pay no fee or maybe a reduced fee. The reason I'm bringing this up is that I saw an ad in the Hamb "Parts for sale" section that said to send money via Paypal "friends and family".
My understanding based on a short converstion with someone is that if you use the "Friends and Family" option, you will not/may not(?) be eligible for a refund if you don't receive what you ordered.
Like I said, I am not sure of all the rules when using the "Friends and Family" option, so if you try to save a few dollars by using that option, you may shoot yourself in the foot......so to speak. Be sure you research this for yourself BEFORE sending anyone any money.......especially if they ain't really friends or family.

Since I had good luck twice with Paypal, I'm very happy with them......and since I recommended using Paypal to everyone on the Hamb, I felt I should point this out to insure everyone gets good results. ;)

I just always wonder why people who have a viable niche market lie to their customers and ruin things for themselves. If they had shipped my heads in a reasonable period of time and been honest with me about delays, its pretty obvious that I would have been a repeat customer for some more high dollar components like roller rockers and aluminum valve covers. Most likely pistons and rods and an aluminum intake. Instead, they told obvious lies, or didn't follow up when they promised to. The owner acted like he was irritated and didn't have time to talk...........on a $2700 order. The lady who answers the phone always says she will check and call back............and doesn't.
I guess they haven't realized that while the internet is a great way to put your Company into the view of the public and potential customers............it is equally effective at getting your reputation tarnished very quickly when you treat customers poorly and even potentially defraud them. Thanks to the HAMB for letting me bring this information forward for everyone to see before they deal with this company.;)

  11. It's pretty simple how they get away with it. First people don't do enough research before hand. There are way more "so and so ripped me off has anyone else had issues" threads than "are these guys reputable" threads before a purchase is made. This thread is a good example. At least 4 guys have indicated they are not reputable would have been good to know before ordering. Almost every one of these type of threads have someone saying "I wish I knew that before ordering". Second is if the "bad" seller actually gets someone their goods and they are of decent qualty 99% of the people who have been lied to and screwed around for months seem to forget all that and recommend the companies with the caveat "the times they quote you for delivery are not accurate".

I was told by someone else that was burned by Issac, that Issac started a new company.. ironically at the same address. Sure enough I reached out to Rush Hour performance, after cycling through the automated system it Gabe me the option to type in the first 3 letters of said persons name... sure enough it connected me to Issac. Issac was pissed, told me that my engine was purchased from Cadillac High performance and told me “you delusional shit” “fuck off”... hung up then called me back from a Cadillac high performance phone number. Threatening to sue me for deformation and telling me to join the trolls online. All because I’ve submitted my experiences with his companies online. I guess I am delusional for paying a company 11,000+ dollars for an engine that doesn’t exist.

Paul Lane used to be the VP of MTS (Maximum Torque Specialties) his brother Marty was the Cadillac guru according to folks on the Modified Cadillac forum. Marty died some years back and I guess the place went to shit.
I purchased a 472 from MTS right after Marty died, took about a year to get the motor.
MTS was in Apple Valley CA. Kinda SoCal but in the middle of nowhere.
MTS had rave reviews on the Modified Cadillac forum where they said to watch out for The Cad Co.

Best news! It didn't fit in my '65 Caddy drop top (I found out that Caddys are NOT chevys!!)

Anyways so now I have a Chevy LS motor in my Caddy and I'm probably going to stuff that nice new Caddy 472 into my 63 Suburban!!!

    Update 8/7/20
A member on another site dedicated to improving performance in Cadillac engines posted information today saying that Cadillac High Performance (Illinois) had notified Cadco (Arizona) that they will no longer be purchasing components from them to resell. I know that I purchased some parts a while back from another well known manufacturer who had been selling to CHP and had difficulty getting paid for the components, so they sold directly to me. Anyway, if you are considering any purchases from CHP, take this with a grain of salt. I will say that this particular guy usually knows what he is talking about.

Are you sure you didn't mean "watch out for CHP" instead of "watch out for CadCo" ?

This shop is closed and Issac has left without a trace for now. I live 2 miles from this shop and he is a big con-artist. There is a lot of people who are currently filing with the IL states attorneys office. He has never had 50 employees and has never manufactured or built anything in the place. He does nothing but lie and steal peoples money. He also goes by Mike Dunn on FB and is starting another business called Untouchable Kustoms on St. Charles Rock road St. Louis MO.

I agree with Clemens there is a lot of people he has scammed here locally this guy is a scam artist he has never owned a machine shop or had more than 3-4 people working for him. The people who do work there are a bunch of hacks who have no formal training working on cars the building he is working out of has no equipment for any kind of real work. You can contact the New Baden Police department who is working to try and get this guy arrested. I live in this town and drive by here every day. He goes by CHP Johnny/Mike Dunn/Issac Duckett "which he has 2 accounts under" he belongs to alot of FB groups. so put the word out to everyone because around here he is being look for by a lot of people.

Someone said that he had opened another company under a different name and was working out of the same building. Don't know if there is any truth to that. I would think that the police would not have much trouble physically locating him, or at least closing the business location down if he isn't around. A picture of his business location would show what people are dealing with.

    On a slightly different note........Cad Company :D

I placed an order the other day for some forged (on sale) pistons, and a few other items. When the shipping came up it showed about an $80 shipping charge. Thought it was kinda high but decided the sale price made it worthwile and went ahead and placed the order. Apparently there was some error in the shipping charge, and they sent me an email today refunding $59 to my account...........

So I would say that anyone looking for parts for a Cadillac (425/472/500) build, you might want to check them out. They could have kept the money and no one (me) would have known, but when they are honest like this, I'll be buying some more stuff from them as my build progresses. Just thought since I complained about Cad High Performance, it was only right to give kudos when a company like Cad Co does things right.:p
