Is the H.A.M.B. an obsession with you?

After the last few very difficult weeks of caring for and then the passing of Mrs. HRP's dad (Clyde) last saturday and not being able to go on line and read all the ever changing things that happen I have come to the conclusion ,,,,I am addicted to the HAMB.

I fell compelled to check it out at least once a day,,,but have found myself sitting here sometimes for hours ,,,,if it is interesting.

I remember a couple of years before I joined up if some one had said that I would get involved with a internet chat line I would have told them they were crazy,,,,Hell, I hate computers! would have been my answer.

My Wife takes it in stride,,,my kids think it's funny how De(their pet name for me)Got hooked on the computer(HAMB).

My friends that are here on The hamb understand the attraction but others don't get it,,,and hey,,,thats ok by me!

So ,,,thanks to Deuce Roadster and Boones for introducing me to the hamb a few years back,,,,I didn't jump in at first,,,I lurked for a good while but the lure was to great,,,,,,,,,I have made some great friends that I have no doubt that they too are obsessed!

Same here- it's the only message board I've ever seen that 99% of the users know whats cool and have similar taste.

 

Yes.....because even with things being so confusingly busy with me at work, I still have to take time to see what's remotely going on.

 

Not an obsession, but a resource I value. I sit in front of a computer all day, so it's also entertainment

I pleaded for years with Wife to Not get a fucking computer because I knew what the excessive/compulsive disorder that usta make me drink too much would do once I learned where the on/off button was on a 'puter.

Actually, last holiday break when we were in Gilbert, our friend's 'puter was down the whole week and I didn't suffer from any "physical withdrawal".
Sorta like Coke and Weed in that way...
Once you get to liking it you want it all the time but its not actually physically painful to stop, more like when you misplace your watch and you keep looking at the freckles on your arm hopeing they will tell you what time it is.

 

Cars and sex are my obsessions, the HAMB aids me on the car aspect.

 

This sure has been Sentimentality Week on the HAMB. And yes, I have checked the site several times today.

 

my wife used to get mad because I'd surf the net for nakid chicks...then I found this place...now she gets mad (in a joking way) that I'm here all the time....so I guess the answer is "yes"

 

HAHAHA, I have the HAMB up at work for 9 hours straight, find myself trying to find things to search about. Back in CA my company computer guys made it a restricted site because I was on it so much.

 

They tell me it only takes a few weeks for the shaking to subside. I've never been able to make it that long!

 

An addiction? yes. Obsession? maybe.

Im addicted to the comroderie, help and common intrests. The ideas that flow from this site and the rides that start and finish to finally meet the road. There isnt a 'fine'r' site that has a group of people that would step up to the plate to help another. That is cool.

Obsessed??? for the parts and cars that sell on this site. Too many parts, not enough cash

Actually I have 3 computers on my desk, so one always has the HAMB up, or at least my buddy list in the corner.

 

When your wife is on the computer (only one you own) do you get angry? Do you wake up in the middle of the night thinking you should go check to see what's going on- because the guys from around the world seem to never go to sleep? While you are driving, do you think about what going on on the HAMB?

Well, uh, er, um, uh, not me. These are just symptoms....

Depends on who you ask,

If you ask me it's simply an outlet for my creative nature and a forum for the sharing of ideas with like minded people.

If you ask my wife, it's a #**@&!: addiction.

BUT I CAN QUIT ANYTIME I WANT, DAMNIT!!!!

 

Well this is the 5th time today I've gone on here, and its only 2:54! No one else on the internet really understands traditional rods and kustoms like everyone on the Hamb. Im addicted!

Yes very much so, even though I don't post much here, I am still learning from everyone's posts. I come on here every hour usually if not more.

 

Where else would you find a place where there is newbs chattin it up with expert fabricators and crazy talent like Skratch, Cole Foster even the Cab!!!

 

Don't know that I' addicted but visit at least 3-4 times a day. Thing I appreciate the most is the humor and technical info available here. I am fairly new to the site but feel comfortable here (so let the bashing begin!)

 

I bet I spend easily an hour surfing around on the HAMB every (work) day.
It beats the shit out of the forum at gaychristianmetalbands.com!

 

ha,ha. me too. I have the hamb up just like all my other computer programs I use for work, I open my palm desktop, Oracle,email,and the Hamb. I read my emails then go to the Hamb every morning. Then about an hour later I start to work. Always checking in on my breaks and throughout the day. I hardly ever get on at home or the weekends. So I would say that cars are my obsession the Hamb cures that fix while at work.

 

Is there a 12 step program to get this HAMB jones off my back?

The ol' lady thinks I need an intervention!

It's not so much an obsession as it is a painful rectal itch that must be attended to frequently.

I waste too much time looking at the HAMB at work. Weekiends I am so busy I don't log on much. No withdrawls because i catch up on Mon morning. yes I am addicted.

my lack of a weekend is self inflicted.. i like being busy but sometimes it just plane gets out of hand.
