Is there a "DontCrush.com" for vintage cars?

I was kicking around the net and came across DontCrush.com, a site that campaigns to save those early electric plug-in cars that the OEMs used to lease to people before hybrids became mainstream.

Is there any organization like this for vintage cars? I think maybe SEMA and possibly some of the car magazines were working on something, but I've never really come across a centralized association that organizes the fight to save the vintage stuff from the crusher.

Anybody have links to vintage "don't crush" pages?

Just which particular cars are you trying to save from the crusher? and why are these cars being crushed in the first place?

I have a nice incomplete 56 Plymouth 4 door that I'll let you save from the crusher...come get it! and a nice incomplete 77 Suburban that you can also save.

I'm not particularly intent on saving anything because I don't have anywhere to put it if I did save it. I'm just looking for web sites that may promote the 'don't crush' message.

Yer talkin' about the campaign to save the EV-1; it was unsuccessful. They were indeed crushed - and not that long ago, either. I think it was late in 2004 that they were all rounded up in AZ and squished.

This from a company that doesn't have a decent hybrid on the street - they built a viable electric car, then took them all back after the evaluation period and squished 'em.

Wanna save old cars? All it takes is some space and a wallet...

The HAMB is generally about saving old cars, and putting them back on the road.

As for all the cars that get crushed every year, because they're worth more as scrap than as cars....there really isn't much you can do about it. The neat cars generally get saved because they're worth saving. I just don't worry about it.

There is alot of pure,100% junk out there. With that said though there is alot of cars worth saving . The problem is alot of the yards don't want to sale you a whole car. They will sale parts for lots of $ and when the time comes they crush it for $50-$100, But if no one buys anthing off of it and the time is coming for it to be crushed they ,you make them a few hundred dollar offer, they say NO and crush it for $50-$100. It just doesn't compute. But then theres the goverment................A whole other story.

    Sorry about being long winded
