this was my thought, you could cover the stainless with shrink wrap.

Been using Dot 5 in the Deuces for a very long time only once did I experience the leaking problem. It happened when I replaced the front wheel cylinders with a new set from Wagner. To stop the leaks I annealed the now used copper washers that fixed the problem. Never cool copper after heating that just makes it hard again. Seems your experiencing some type of seating issue with the wheel cylinder the problem is not the copper washer. The fact you tried many brands of washers and all still leak theres no way every brand would be defective.

I've annealed them by heating with a quench in water and they leaked.
I annealed them without quenching them in water. They still leaked.
I always wipe everything down so I know it's not the bleeders leaking.
Plus, since It's leaked with 2 sets of wheels cylinders & 3 sets of hoses, I doubt that's it.

What thickness should the copper washers be? The ones I had from Napa were about 1/8 thick I think. The Dorman washers were a little thinner.
What thickness are you guys using?

I'm by no means an expert , but it looks like there isn't enough material on the hose fitting to properly seal that washer ?????

what about a different hose w/ a banjo "block' like some g.m. stuff ???/

I was thinking the same thing ...and the washer appears to be too thin as well. Make sure the washers fit tight around the threads too..if they flop side to side they have too big a hole. I have found the those thin washers are tough to seal..you really have to crank down on them. The ones I usually use are bout .85 to .100 thick. They don't seem to be hard to seal.

After annealing copper it DOES NOT become harder if immediately submerged into cold water. Copper has a face centered cubic structure and its grain structure will not be affected by cold water after heating. http://www.materialseducation.org/e...cs/Work_Hardening_and_Annealing_of_Copper.pdf

I always use dot 5 when it leaks it does not mess up paint etc. My 41 ford master cylinder uses a banjo with fitting on the rear with crush washers. I bought many different washers from several sources and all leaked. I then purchased some from Macs and no more leaks. All of my other washers had inside diameter too big. I no longer try to reuse washers.
