After switching to a T5 trans last winter I wanted to use the backup light switch. Started looking for some suitable lights that didn't look too weird, finally remembered that I had an old set of 30-31 cowl lamps that had a lot of welding splatter all over them so I cleaned them up the best that I could. I made some brackets and mounted them under the back of the car directly below the 50 Pontiac tail lamps. I got some new reflectors from Snyders and found some LED bulbs that would fit in the housing and they turned out great, I can actually see how to back up at night. I would try to post a pic but I'm not at home for awhile but I am very pleased with the results. They actually look traditional and they are effective.

I used a Mini Cooper light with a piece of 1/2" aluminum on the rail below my bed.
