I have tried Nostalgia Sids and Okey Joe. Okey Joe said they don't do 37 axles and referred me to Sid's. I have sent a couple emails to them and a few calls, but no response. Today on Facebook I found an older post that says they are not taking in any more axles. Does anyone have a source for dropping a 37 axle. I want to use the stock wishbone. Thanks.

There was somebody in MI doing it. As I recall he was going to take a break from it but not quit. Sorry, the name escapes me...

Another fella in Southern California also, he showed his work in a thread a few months back. I hope I saved the link

Edit: Looks like my phone only holds messages for about 30 days or so.

I've used Anson Axles for years. In my opinion the best in the business. Give Greg a call.

I would second calling Andy Kohler (Koehler?). A few years ago when I talked to him he was willing to drop even a 48 axle so I would guess he would be able to do a 37 axle. His price was definitely in line if not a little cheaper than okie Joe and seemed like a really nice guy on the phone.

Andy Kohler is a nice guy, does good work, but I believe he is taking a break from dropping axles for a while. You could try calling though.

  15. I've had Anson, Andy Kohler, okie Joe, and Trevor Dewitt drop axles for me.

Anson is the best but most expensive
Andy was the easiest and best to deal with, super happy all around with the transaction.

Trevor does great work As well. But I think he's not doing them right now?

And okie Joe's was by far the worst axle I've paid for. Paid to have the steering arms dropped on that one too. They were uneven and 1 of the kingpin holes was loose. I wouldn't waste my time

  19. Jack did a beautiful job on my '33-'36 axle. See how smooth the curves are?
Afterwards, I drilled and chromed it.

I assume your wanting the tube 37 axle dropped. Anson dropped the one that was on the Brizio built 27 Roadster that won the AMBR a few years ago. If you go to Anson Axles on Instagram he has a few pictures of dropped 37 axles.

I do drop them. But 37-41 axles only to 3" drop. More than 3" drop will bring king pin too close to perch bolt IMO.
I even have one in stock ready to ship. Only sad thing is that i live long way from your place....

If Andy is still dropping them, I recommend him, too. I love the 32 axle he dropped for me.

Im not a propoant of dropping a 37/40 axle because the distance between the Perch pin and king pin is short and after the dropping process the steering radius is comprised... I suggest using a 35/36 axle and wishbone which is longer between perch pin and king pin . With this combination your steering radius will be about the same as the original 37/40 radius.. 35/36 wishbone is dimensionally the same as 37/40 wishbone and will bolt up in same place.. I just recently did this one for a 40 Ford..

If you stretch the axle when dropping it, you don't lose any length.
Factory drop is 2 1/8" so a 4 inch drop only gives you an additional 1 7/8" drop total.

Top axle: 4" Total Drop not stretched 46 1/2" KP to KP
Middle Dropped Axle: Stock original Axle 48 1/2" KP to KP
Bottom Dropped Axle: 4" Total Drop stretched 48 1/2" KP to KP

To stretch the axle boss at the same time presents its own set of problems.

You would need a different setup and tooling to do it. With the current way of doing it you only need a jig setup the holds the axle static or a hold the boss static and move the axle, its a simple (used the word loosely) up down motion.

Stretching the axle while dropping it adds an all new dynamic to the mix. Now you can no longer do a "simple" motion of up/down to drop the axle now you have to stretch lengthen while moving the boss up/down at the same time. It is no longer a simple pull but becomes a compound pull on the axle boss...
