I would like to see how many of these Guy's reaction would be that say P*** on it or it's to far gone if your post was more like ::

"I SAW THIS GO IN THE CRUSHER TODAY !"

If they owner will let it go CHEAP, Buy it & then determine if its savable.

If no, Sell it off in parts. If it gets crushed no one gets anything & its GONE forever.

I would never walk away from that stuff if it can be had for a decent price.

that is the longer roof open car which is less desirable as a "custom" due to the length of open interior behind the doors

the metal looks pretty thin.... i paid $300 for a 38 coupe in slightly better shape to build a "roadster" out of.... got a bunch of extra parts with it....

You can get fenders, floors, lower panels... Just do one section at a time. The cowl... then a door... then the other door... and in a few years it will come around. Try to find another one sitting in a field someplace.. but I wager this is that last one for under $5k anywhere. It's a Ford, it will always be worth something.

how much time do you have and how thick is your 2nd wallet? i have a 58' plymouth convertable that fred flintstone owned but it's fixable. unless i looked at it in person i wouldn't give much for it and then it might scare me away after i looked. good luck!

That's what I'm looking at. It would be tough to fix, but damn, I bet I could part that car out for an easy 2K. Easy.

You guys offering $50 must be living in 1971 or have no idea of the resale value of parts. Hell, with a parts car and a Carson top this is a buildable car.

I'd take the steering wheel if you want to sell it.

It's only worth what your willing to pay. I'd start at $50.00 and go up from there. More work than I'd want to tackle. Better stock up on rust buster penetrating oil.

The best way to find out what it's worth is to tell everyone where it is and provide the guy's phone number... it's a little chancy though, you might be asking the guy that had it how much he sold it for! Or asking the guy that bought it how much he wants for it and divide by two!

My coupe wasn't much better than that when I started, maybe the cowl was a little better, but don't let it go to s****, hell I'll buy it. 38 for sure, I paid 600 bucks for mine 10 years ago.

Tell em for just 100.00 and a six pack you'll be glad to help em out and haul it off. You can negotiate on your price. Stand firm on the six pack.

It would be nice if you could get it for $500, but that is probably a $2000 car to the right person.

You could build something like this. Mine was burnt from the cowl back and then sat outside for 15 yrs.cut the rust off the bottom and rivit shtmetal on. chop it up and make a fenderless tub. low buck and a **** load of fun!

It's not a "roadster" . Roadsters have side curtains and no roll up windows. '37 was the last year Ford made roadsters. It's a '38 convertible coupe............

What kills me is that everyone is saying $50 and are afraid to touch it because there's no floor and the bottom 6" of the body needs to be replaced. Or is it because it's "only" a 38?
****, the HAMB is full of Model A's, Deuces, 33/34's, Merc's, etc. that have had starts with no floor and need all the lower patch panels (my 34/5/w included). we've seen old Jalopy body turds turned into rods with much more work than this 38 needs.
Sure the car is beat, but if you can get it for less than $500 and can do most of your own metal work you can end up with a nice 38 convert that would turn some heads as it isn't a very common car.

Even though its a Ford, I'd still go for it @ $500. A good ***le could double the value. I could sell the stuff I wouldn't used and probably end up with a free car. I've built them from worse condition then this. Would make a nice driver a guy could have fun with and not worry about. When you build them from a pile of junk, anything you do is an improvement.

So where do I pick it up at? :D Gene

****, see those door window frames laying on were the floor used to be...I bet those will bring 500.00. Cowl, dash, doors, quarters...Thats an easy 2000.00 car in my eyes. I would LOVE a drop top like that, and a car like that is probably the only way a cheap *** like me will ever own one :D

A Ford V8 Open Car is A Gold Open Car. The year doesn't matter so much. Yes, it is rotten and ragged, but it is recognizable and if you don't have the inclination or talent (this is not a challenge to you either) to tackle the job there is money to be made to finance a doable project for YOU! More in a better economy BUT it IS a Ford V8 Convertible Coupe.

My plan is to "save" it from becoming dirt again and part it out.Hopefully some of its parts will live on in other peoples projects. I just hate to see cars go to waste.

Car should be saved...not parted out, Id be all over it if I found it. I have a pile of much worse 35/36 parts that will become a Westergard style taildragger someday...I wish I had something that nice to start with.
