Is this bracket upside down or correct as pictured. It is for a 3 speed manual transmission on a 1956 Ford F100 292 Y block motor. I did not take the trans off the motor. The PO did and not sure this is correct as pictured?
If the shoulder bolt on the open side lines up horizontally with the 2 bolts, it probably won't matter unless it shifts the shoulder bolt fwd/back. But I'm guessing it's correct as shown, too. What mounts on it ?
That almost looks like it was an added-on bracket from something else. The rear bolt appears to be a longer one for the same bolt as was on shifter housing. The front one appears to be going into a tapped hole in the housing; if that round thing is merely a spacer.
Just about the only thing I can think of that that may be is the pivot point for the 4 wheel drive shift handle on a 59 or 60 or so 4 wheel drive F100 Check the casting number on the trans and see what it matches up with.
It supports the clutch pivot....It is a stock app.The other parts are still on the truck frame.Mid fifties f100 catalog show some of the clutch detail but not which way to mount this to the trans.
