very cool. I'd rather put regular brakes on it and buy another old car with the money I saved... of course I couldn't even buy a 3 window door, so if I were rich I might feel differently.
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks that way...the "restoration" would allow it to last another 60+ years. There is a way that it could be done and it still be a tastefull traditional rod...take 3wLarry's ex rod....it was perfect yet minimalist...
i love the car, but the whole "its better unpainted" **** is retarded you think finishing something ruins it? a great looking car only gets better when you take care of it.
I must have talked to this guy at the Hotel in Morris for an hour or two. I think that I read the rodders journal article 10 times, and then there it was in real life. He was a really great guy to talk to. I got the scoop about what he really started with, and how most of the car was gone, and alot of effort was made to make it look like that. Im guessing alot more hours than it would have taken to lay a show quality paint job on it. Like it or not, he nailed a look that so many people try to achive. Paint??? I wouldnt change a thing. ROB
This car is taken care of it looks period correct .We have enough trailer queens .I just like how it appears someone found it in a barn and drove it home .Sand it down paint every thing glossy black .Also chrome plate all the parts .**** boring just like all the rest .My 2 cents
What I'd do with it is paint the thing and fix it all up, but make the paint look old, but still paint it and stuff, to keep the body look old. Maybe 'antique' the paint? I hate to see stuff rot away..
I've talked with the owner, it's mostly 'smoke & mirrors'.... read the old post.. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96960 cc
linky worky for me... why are we speaking Chinese? vintage patina is earned, not created. paint that ****er.
Im totaly with you on this. Fake patina is for paper ***holes!!!!!!!!!!! If this was a survivor pulled from some hiding spot after many years, I would be totaly for preservation. But its not. Its just some wanabe, with high dollar bolt on's. Next worst thing to a RAT ROD!
I couldn't agree with you more. It is his car and it looks damn good rusty, patina, new, old, used, nostalgic etc.... I seen it and it made my jaw drop. Very well done wether it's old or new. Why can't people enjoy the car for what it is/represents and not critique the hell out of it? -Kirk
Looks good to me. Besides if you paint it youre gonna worry about it everywhere you go. I like driving them . Its not going to rot away. if its taken care of.
And if you look at it, it's not being taken care of, there is rust all over the thing, and that is what rust does it rots metal.
Yeah,I'd go along with that, don't understand the rust thing, especially when it's done deliberately Paul
The car looks great. If it was a shiney fresh build folks wouldn't look at it twice. Maybe not even once.
So a fresh build make to look old complete with rust makes it ok? I don't think so. A paint job and no rust would get a lot of attention as well.
