I engraved my valve covers on the CNC Mill yesterday.
Is this kind of **** tolerated here on H.A.M.B., or am I going to be on the outside looking in?

I'd use them on an Oldsmobile to disguise it as a Chevy...

I don't care for them, reminds of of those lightening bolt chevy ones, but to each their own.

Doesn't have the warmth of a 60's speed part casting.

Raised letters instead of engraved would have taken some big CNC balls.

Outlined letters are too engraved-eee, like a trophy engraving.

You have a great pallette there and I would be hard pressed to come up with something as cool. Definately more creative than I. Perhaps an iconic 50's cartoon logo for your initials? like a mooneyes or B&M hydro robot, etc.

    just brainstorming....

Shopping malls used to have a store called "Things Remembered" they engraved all kinds of stuff like jewlery boxes, snow globes, etc.

I'd like a set of valve covers with with a picture of a snow cone on them.

Ofcourse you mean to say, someone is talented enough to copy a computer-file to a CNC-mill and click on Start...

But to answer the topicstarters question,
No, CNC stuff is not really welcomed with open arms here.
"Traditional Hotrods or Customs" never had CNC machined stuff on them, simply because it (the process) exist back then.

Now, had you hand-engraved the valve covers yourself, the amount of work done could perhaps have been admired.

Billet is cast. Alcoa doesn't own any billet mines.

I have a kitamura MyCenter so Im impressed you can run a CNC.

Im also impressed with that guy on PBS with the afro that paints the little trees here and there.:D
But I would rather have a poster of Audrey Hepburn than one of his paintings.

What kind of CNC is it?

Well I thinK you did a fine job. I have a CNC mill my self and aside from making custom parts I love to try and do artsy stuff to. And of course we know that it takes a lot more than copying "a computer-file to a CNC-mill and click on Start" (what a jerk). GOOD JOB!!!!
